Chapter twenty nine: The senator's wayward son.

That same week, I had another dinner with Senator Sanders. This time, he chose a cozy little Italian restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner of the city. He said he wanted to avoid the public eye because reporters had been following him everywhere.

He sent a car to pick me up at my house and drop me at the location. I found myself at a dark alley and was so confused. I glanced around nervously, wondering if I had somehow ended up in the wrong place. "Oh my gosh, I don't wanna die," I thought, already freaking out. As I took hesitant steps forward, the sound of my heels echoed off the cobblestone pavement. I kept adjusting my black minidress. I clutched my purse tightly, half expecting a masked figure to leap out from the shadows at any moment.
