Eighteen
Kiara was not one to panic, so she didn't. Instead, she appointed Batman as her therapy dog during the flight. She was not completely new to flying, but private jets were way out of her league and it was throwing her off a bit. There was some comfort in knowing you will die with a bunch of other people on a commercial flight if something goes wrong. Flying private didn't give her that.
Chris told her it would be just the two of them because his parents decided to fly earlier. He didn't get into the details, but she understood it had something to do with flying with the dog. Go figure. Either way, the flight was only three hours long and she could handle herself.

Kiara felt better after their talk in the morning. The night ended on a bad note and she just hoped he hadn’t read much into her while she pretended to sleep. Chris was glad Kiara made herself scarce for the rest of the afternoon. He was not in the mood to face the know-it-all expression she was sporting when in fact she knew shit about him and his life. He knew she had a strong personality from the beginning, but he didn’t imagine the amount of stress she’d put him through.The reasons for choosing her as his fake girlfriend were getting blurred in his mind. She knew they were supposed to arrive together at the party and hoped she didn’t spoil his mother’s entrance plans by getting down to the main floor too early. Why dear God would allow that vision from heaven to be standing in front of him was beyond his comprehension. Kiara was sad to take out her dress. She felt amazing in it, especially after Chris’ heartfelt compliment, and was determined to keep it. She didn’t think she’d have another opportunity to use it, but she could always crash a fancy-ass party if she had to. Now that she was alone, her mind wandered back to their earlier encounter. After that shit show with his father, she was determined to distance herself until the ‘job’ was done. But when it was just the two of them, he went back to being… fun. She still didn’t like him, mostly because he was an entitled prick, but she couldn’t deny how interesting it was to be around the man.
