Chapter 22

"What is your problem!" Mrs. Torres yelled, her voice laced with a hint of fear as she stared at the shattered bottle. Annabel quickly bent down to pick up the broken pieces, avoiding any eye contact with her boss and the visitor who had caused the commotion.

"I would advise you to fire her," the visitor told Mrs. Torres firmly.

"It was a mistake. It won't happen again," Annabel's voice trembled as she spoke, her gaze still fixed on the floor.

"Clean this up and leave immediately!" Mrs. Torres shouted. Annabel gathered the remaining shards of the bottle she could find, her eyes still averted. "Call Mrs. Jones," Mrs. Torres instructed, her voice echoing through the room for Annabel to hear.

Annabel's POV

What the fuck is happening? My so-called aunt is here. What does she want from me? Fear grips me as I suddenly realize that I might be exposed soon, caught in my web of lies. I knew I shouldn't have taken this job, and now I'll be fired the moment my truth is discovered. I despise this
