CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

“I hope there is nothing wrong, Miss Avery?” Her manager asked with a slight frown on his face, as he thought maybe Avery did not appreciate his kind gesture.

Avery stared at the letter in her hand and back at the manager in disbelief. She couldn’t believe that she was given a raise and was about to lose it, because of her quick judgment. “Is this really for me?” She asked still in shock at what she had just heard.

Mr. Brook gave her an assuring smile. “Yes.” He simply replied to her question and she smiled back at him. “Keep up the good work. You may leave, I would love to be left alone.” He said, dismissing her.

“Thanks, Mr. Brooke,” Avery said to him. She felt like a burden had been lifted off her shoulder. She couldn’t believe her hard work paid off.

Thanking him once again, she stepped out of the office and toward the counter. Jeffery walked toward her while trying to speak in a hushed tone.
