I walked out of the pack house despondently, unable to understand why Ava was not going to let things go and start over; it was never too late for her to turn over a new leaf; all she had to do was internalise it.

Nevertheless, despite the passage of years and the continuous web of deceit, her adeptness at leading a dual existence persisted.

In public, she effortlessly portrayed herself as virtuous, yet behind closed doors, she revealed her true, nefarious nature.

She lied, I was sure of it; I could just as well wonder why she had lied about being pregnant, but why does she ever lie about anything?

I wasn't entirely convinced, but I had a feeling she'd find a way to wriggle out of the test too. She had this talent for bending situations to suit her desires.
