Chapter 29

Anna's POV 

I contemplated whether to answer Anas' call or not. What he said earlier hurt me to my marrow. I picked up anyway. Might as well hear what he had to say. 

"Ameera, I'm sorry," was the first thing he said. 

"Why would you talk like that, Anas? Yes, I haven't called you in a while but is that a reason to say all those things?" 

He sighed. "The thing is, you've been talking to Niya and Ahmed about something that's going on in your school. They talked about it today but they were surprised that you hadn't told me about it and question me on whether we had an argument. I felt odd."

I could see where his explanation was headed. He must have felt left out that I had been talking all my problems over with only Haniya and Ahmed. He undoubtedly felt like I had decided not to trust him any longer.
