Chapter 23: The Regret

Ashton embraced her from behind lovingly. He could sense her pain. Although they were already married, it was not really a surprise to see Ashley having that reaction. After all, she had been together with Karl for five years and they just broke up a few days ago. In fact, Ashton was kind of amazed that she did not break down while watching the wedding being held.

"Honey, if you want to go home-"

"No," she cut him off immediately and stared at him. There was a concerned look on his face.

"I just thought that it would be better if we leave before the others see us. I mean, none of the guests see us come in before. So if you want to go home now, no one would know that we've ever come here," Ashton explained considerately.

"Why should I leave? He invited us, didn't he? And you had promised me that you would help me. Are you backing out now?"

"Of course not, honey. I'm just concerned about you."
