The D-day was here, it’s Valentine's Day, the day I'd been anxiously waiting and yearning for. I woke up feeling nervous. Nothing must go wrong.
By break time, our plan was set to go into motion. I can't wait to ruin them both. I just hoped this plan wasn't too sinister.
<"It's my parents, I'll get rid of them. Just hang on and don't step out baby, I love you." He said as he pecked my lips and faced the door while he took deep breaths.Hearing the word 'parents' reminded me of mine for a brief second, I pushed it to the back of my mind.
I woke up a later than my usual time, picking up my phone, 11:09am was displayed boldly on the screen.Who knew I could sleep for this long
The midterms were over and it'd been one hell of an awkward one. Junior refused to come home so he spent his midterm break at grandma's place. Speaking of grandmas, I never grew up with one, we never knew each other. I had asked my mum once and she said it in plain, emotionless words that my grandma 'didn't want to meet me'. I sighed as I pushed the thought to the back of my mind. Her loss, not mine.Occasionally bumping into Rose was the main motive behind me calling my break 'awkward'. I don't think I'd ever be able to forget what I saw.School had resumed and the ss2 students had become a shadow of themselves, they were more respectful, neat, quiet and even acted more mature. The boys prostrated lower than before when greeting teachers while girls almost grazed their knees with the floors, like they were greeting their in-laws. All for these posts. Some were even going overboard with it. Mary from science class stocked up the staff room with packs of bottled water and drinks.P
Days rolled into weeks and time flew by, exams were around the corner. The classrooms of Belleview were getting more silent by the day, whilst the library received its august visitors. The prefect-ship craze wasn't the hot topic anymore, most students had even forgotten about it while some were still trying to be noticed and we the nominees became more cautious alongside studying hard."Hey baby." Nuel waltzed into my classroom. I was the only one in class, it was break period and most of us were in the cafeteria while other were littered around school in their various quiet spots."Hey love." I replied as I dropped my pencil on the opened book in front of me."Why didn't you go for the break?" He asked occupying the seat in front of mine before pecking my forehead."I'm not hungry and I wanted to master these equations." I gestured to the book."Math wiz." He joked, making me smile.
It was the first week of the exams and I was in the library studying for my paper; it was by twelve. The perfect-ship craze was on a low and most students were putting in their all. It was being rumored that the prefects will be chosen based on their academic performance for this term.I didn't even bat an eyelash or break a sweat. Prefect or no prefect, I was still a seniorThings have been really rocky with Ruby for a couple of weeks, every little action surrounding me came with a consequence and I wasn't ready to back down either.Last week, a tumbler slid out of my hands while doing the dishes and she thought it best, to report about it to her mum.Who reports about a broken glass?Even her mum saw no reason for her report. She was just trying so hard to gain unnecessary attention at whatever cost."Good afternoon senior. This is for you." He handed a f
It'd been one hell of a week for me and probably, my cousins too. Aunty had been working from home for the past week so we all had to be home at the right time.It was harder on Ruby than Rose and I, I got to see my boyfriend at school everyday though, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of that. Though we still rode home together, I didn't dare go anywhere else but straight home.We were almost done with exams, I had just a few papers left. I was heading to the kitchen while scrolling throughmy phone.Aunty had confiscated our phones after the whole Ruby family meeting disaster and since it was Friday, she decided to let us have them and returned by Sunday afternoon. This was put in place "so as to foster more studying and less drama and distractions" in the house. I wasn't even in the least affected unlike my cousins, I still had my old phone much to the oblivion of everyone.Ruby was one step a
We were all refrained from visiting Mary at the sick bay yesterday after she fainted. But today, students kept on trooping in and out of science class to check on her. Some out of curiosity, others, out of genuine care.I wanted to check on her but decided to quench the fire of that thought at the moment. My butt graced my seat as I winced slightly. My injury stung a bit whenever I was about to sit down, or when I took deep breaths and worse when I walked under the scorching sun.The school had a playful aura about it this afternoon because the exams ended today. Senior students loosened their hairdos while juniors ran about the compound."Hot babe!" Ella hollered as she waltzed through the door of my classroom."So hot she got burned!" James teased."Shut up." Nuel smacked his head as he appeared behind them."Where are you guys coming from?" I smi
I woke up with a smile on my face, this was due to yesterday's events. I and Ruby proudly announced our new posts to her parents and they were genuinely proud of us.I sauntered to the kitchen after brushing my teeth. Mama and Aunty were in the kitchen discussing, I could barely make anything out of their whisperings."Good morning ma, good morning Aunty." I genuflected."Morning my child, how was your night? May you live long in Jesus name." Mama prayed."Amen." I replied."How's the burn?" Aunty glanced at my tummy area."It's healing fast Aunty, it will soon be completely gone." I assured her."But my child, look at the time, this isn't the right time for a young girl like you to wake up." Mama complained."I'm sorry ma." I said in order to avoid unnecessary sermons."But mama, Chizoba and Chikamsu are still sleeping." Aunty repl
