The next day, I woke up early and found that Randolph had tried to call me several times. I snuck out of bed immediately and went out to dial his number. I looked towards the nursery and felt a longing in my heart. Knowing that we would soon go to pick up our children gave me some peace and hope.

There were several missed calls, which could only mean it had to be important. I did not want Ruby to hear our conversation and get upset, so I went downstairs and walked outside to the barn. Apart from the ground that was disturbed to create the ditch we used to bury the wolves, the farm was as peaceful as before. I thanked the goddess once more for blessing us and helping us win the battle without any casualties. It was indeed a blessing.

I took a deep breath and dialled Randolph's number. It rang several times, but he did not pick up. I called two more times and became worried, so I called Kevin instead, who answered on the first ring.
