The twins' shifting scared me, and when the fear dissipated, longing sank in because I knew I would not be able to breastfeed them until they shifted back. I checked them, day and night for three weeks until Emerald shifted back. Although she shifted after her brother, she was able to shift back to her human form sooner than Garnet. They were beautiful pups, but it was hard seeing them that way. As a werewolf, my kind only shifts at eighteen upward, this was alien to me. I knew I needed to toughen up.
