Chapter 139: The News

Riccardo POV:

I felt like an idiot. I couldn't explain the agony that I felt right now. It was just killing me inside as I knew this was all my fault. If only I have listened to Cassie, if only I have trusted her hunch a little and reinvestigated Nicola's death again, maybe none of this would have happened. I was just too late to see through who Carina really was and Cassie had to face the consequences of my mistake.

Slowly, what Cassie said to me before came rolling back into my mind. 'Are you waiting for me to die before you could believe me?' Things just happened precisely how she predicted it.
