Chapter 48: Finding Him

Cassandra POV:

Ricky left the bedroom after he gave me a long berating speech. He slammed the door behind him and that made me gasp with my body jolted in shock. My crying stopped immediately and I just sat on the bed motionlessly. My eyes stared at the floor as my mind just thought about what I should do next.

Should I just go to sleep right now? But Ricky was in a bad mood and if I just let us continue being in this situation, tomorrow would be a long day for me. I didn't want to walk on eggshells inside this house. That would be such an agonizing thing for me to bear especially now that I didn't have any other place to stay apart from here.

Ricky was right. I did love him. Yet, knowing who he really was tonight just felt like a pang in my heart. I couldn't accept that he was part of the crime world. Even worse, he was the king of the underworld. How could I end up having a boyfriend with such a dangerous identity? This was just not making any sense to me.
