Luka
After breakfast, which was delicious by the way, JP walked me out. We spoke about things that needed to be taken care of in the pack while am away then I shifted into my wolf form and ran into the forest. My wolf is more than happy to be out as he did not get a chance to come out in morning because I was busy training her.
His large paws left prints wherever we step, he sniffed the air the let out a howl. After that we started running at high speed, we were both anxious to get there and see the pack. We both missed the pups and our mother. My friend Xander, he was one wolf that accepted me from the moment he saw me, while others wanted me dead.
They grew to love me though, trust and depend on me. I had more ways to protect the pack than any of them did and that is because of my human side. Now they do not see my human side as a weakness but a strength. I started to feel the change in the air the closer we got to the mountain and that seemed to fuel my wolf to run faster.
He was excited and so was I. It has been three years since we left this place and now it feels like coming home. This is my first home before the pack anyway, this is where I was raised, this is where I learned to be a man and stand on my own. This place made me who I am, and I am grateful to my pack for that. My father might have been a monster but Alice my mother is a gentle wolf.
I do not remember much about my real mother as she never spent that much time with me growing up, before my father killed her. all I remember is that she liked dressing up and having meetings with other she-wolves in the pack than spend time with me. Which is why I believed it so quickly when my father told me that she wanted to kill me.
We ran up until we got to where the forest was most thick, no human would ever enter this place, it is every scary and that is why it was safer for us to hide out here. I stood there then let out a howl to let my pack know that I was back, I stood there for a moment listening to hear if they answer back but there was nothing. Only birds chipping, my heart started pounding in my chest worried that they left already.
We got into the forest running fast towards the cave, the clear road that was leading to the cave was now covered by long grass, which told me that they have not been here in a while. Where could they have gone? My wolf became anxious as we walked slowly toward the cave. I stepped on something then removed my paw on it and looked.
It was a bullet casing, my heart pounded in my chest and my wolf was agitated. They might be normal wolves but to me they were family, and that bullet casing tells me that someone was here. A human made them leave this place, how did humans even find this place? My steps were slow and laboured as I went into the cave.
I can see that it has been a long time since they have been here, the cave is full of grass as well and bones. Wait, bones! I hurried towards them and saw that it really was bones. It looked like one of the pups, my wolf whimpered, and we sat there next to the bones where my mother Alice used to sit. We sat there for a while whimpering feeling the pain of losing a pack member.
I swear that I will find whoever human did this and they will pay for what they have done. After a long time, I stood up then went to dig a whole then buried the bones in it. after I started running again, I must find whoever is left of my family and bring them back home with me. It is not safe for them here anymore. They took me in when I was young and raised me. Now it is my turn to find them and provide them protection.
I ran from one place to another, searching all the hideouts we had but I could not find them and now am only left with one hideout to check. If they are not there and there are signs that they left recently then I will know where to go. I just need clues to tell me if they have been here or abandoned this place all together after the humans found it.
It was getting late now, and the sun was setting. I ran to the next hideout not wanting to waste anymore time, my wolf and I are anxious. We do not know what to expect and it will be every sad if they left this place and never looked back. They knew that I was going to come back, they might not have understood the words, but we had a way of communicating and understanding each other.
They knew that I was not going to stay away forever, and I would like to believe that they would not leave until I got here. That they will wait until I return. When I got close to the place, I let out a howl but there was not much time to wait to hear any response, it was getting late, and I needed to search the last hideout if they are not here.
But I heard a howl back, I stopped in my tracks thinking that I had imagined it. I howled again and they responded. My heart swelled with happiness and my steps became lighter as I moved forward. Before I could go any further, I was tackled to the ground and my face licked. Alex! Oh, Goddess they were okay. I pushed him away from me then stood on all fours looking at him.
He was wiggling his tail like a dog; he is happy and so am I. My family is safe. We played and tackled each other to the ground happy to see each other again after such a long time. We heard twigs breaking and we stopped then looked at the direction. My mother Alice appeared followed by my brother who was the alpha before me and the others.
They surrounded us, they were fourteen of them when I left with the pups and now, I count thirteen. One pup is the one whose bones I found in the cave. I run to my mother tackled her to the ground licking her face then laid my head on her stomach just like I did when I was a boy. This is my safe place, where I feel loved and protected. Right here on my mother’s stomach.
The whole pack then comes and lays all around us. I can see that they are happy to see me as I was seeing them. It is time they go back with me; they are not safe here anymore and I will never forgive myself if something happens to one of them again. Already one of the pups died and I was not here to protect them. I am their alpha, and I was supposed to be here. But I was not.
We will stay for a week so that we can all say our goodbyes to this home before I take them back with me. I know they will not like it but their safety is more important to me than their stubbornness, I know that my mother and Alex will follow me without hesitation but my brother, the former alpha will not be so trilled on the idea and he might be holding a grudge against me for not being here when they were attacked.
But I also know that he will not stay when others are leaving but he will not challenge me for the alpha position again as he knows that I am much stronger than him and that the pack will be safer with me as their leader. It doesn’t bring me the comfort I need though; I wish my beta PJ was here, he would have already been on the search for who is responsible for the attack on my pack.
I know some may think that I am crazy for treat mere normal wolves like this but to me they are more than just mere wolves, they are family, and I will protect them just as much as I protect my pack back home. Even back home, they will have to understand that there is not me without these wolves here, they made their alpha who he is and if they do not appreciate that then I do not need them in my pack.
When we go back, I expect us to live in harmony, we are all animals anyway it shouldn’t be difficult.
Zoe woke on early as usual and went for a run. When she came back, she went to the training grounds and started training. She spent an hour and a half training. She missed her friends so much, by now Mason would be teasing her and provoking her until she agrees to spar with him. They would go on while Lizzy played the couch, a bias one at that and she would always win. Then go to her home or Lizzy’s for breakfast before going on patrol.Oh, how she missed doing patrols at the borders of her pack, alpha Zane, and how friendly he is. He also missed their cook and her food. She missed everything about her pack and could not wait to go back. this place was draining her energy, but it was better now that the devil alpha was not around, at least the remaining people were not that bad, JP as well was not as bad as she thought he was when she first met him. After training, Zoe went back to the packhouse to take a well-deserved shower then went to the kitchen to start bre
A week had passed, and Luka led his family back home to the pack. Zoe was going out the back to throw away the trash when he appeared on the tree lines leading the pack of wolves, fear was the first that crept into her mind and she was paralyzed on the spot. The fear she had was the kind that paralyzed you, the kind that made you forget everything and just succumb to it, and the kind that made you lose all your senses, and the only thing you can focus on is how afraid you are.Today was her birthday and she had asked beta JP if she could go home for the day and spend it with her friends and family. He had promised her after breakfast that he was going to take her home after finishing the paperwork he was busy with and now this man was back. She did not expect him to be back so soon, and she wondered If he would let her go home. Luka smelled the scent of her fear from afar and snapped his head in her direction. But it seemed that there was something more pulling him and
Zoe heard footsteps coming towards her room and her beat boomed in her chest. She was scared that Luka has come back once again, she curled herself into a ball burying her head on her chest and when JP walked in, he found her in that position making him feel sorry for her. He stood where he was not wanting to scare her even more than she already was. “Hey Zoe, I thought I was taking you home for your birthday, or did you change your mind?” he asked her hoping that she would respond, and she did.She lifted her head and looked in his direction. “But your alpha said that I couldn’t go.” She told him still with tears running down her cheeks, she did not want to defy him, Goddess knows what he would do if anyone defied him. “He agreed for me to take you there, come on am sure your friends and family are waiting for you.” He smiled at her, she jumped out of bed and swore her shoes. “Am ready.” She wanted to get out of there as
Her mother smelled her scent even before they could appear at the door and went to meet them. She hurried over when she saw her mate carrying their daughter; she thought she was injured. “What happened to my baby?” she asked checking her to see if she was injured. “I don’t know.” Her mate told her as he placed Zoe on the couch. Her mother sat next to her and wiped her tears. “What’s wrong baby?” she asked worriedly.“Oh mom,” more tears fell from her eyes, it hurt her mother to see her like that and she could tell that she was hurting. “What happened Zoe? tell us,” Zoe sniffed and tried to compose herself. “I found my mate mom.” Her mother broke into an enormous smile. “What’s wonderful baby, you found him at the devil’s pack?” Zoe nodded. “Then why are you crying? You should be happy you found him so soon, not everyone is that lucky. It took me almost a year befo
“This is not good Mason; this is not good at all and no wonder she was such a mass when she arrived,” Lizzy said concerned about her friend, she knew how scared Zoe was of the Devil’s alpha and now she mated to him. “I know but there is nothing either of us can do for her and am sure that she is just there to get her stuff. Tell her parents and leave.” Mason said, the news extremely disappointed him. “I should have known that something was up when she arrived accompanied by the beta.” Said Lizzy.Mason did not reply. “Let us say our goodbyes to her, we don’t know when we will get to see her again. That is if we ever see her again.” Said Mason absent-minded. “Can we pass by my house? I want to get her gift; it is still her birthday after all.” Lizzy said standing up. “Sure, we can pass by the pack house as well and get mine.” Nodding they walked side by side heading to the pack house since it w
Alpha Zane suggested they look for them and everyone went out of the house and started searching. Beta JP caught her scent right behind the house and alerted others. They followed it to the woods but lost it in there; they took different directions looking for them and alpha Zane mind linked the border patrol to find out if they had crossed the border by any chance, but the results were futile, and it was getting late so JP had no choice but to call Luka.He took out his phone and reluctantly dialed his number. The call connected soon as if he was waiting for him to call. “JP.” Answered Luka. “Alpha.” He said then kept quiet not know how to break the news to him. “John Paul, you better tell me the reason for this call now.” Luka was on his feet on the other side this call made him nervous. “Alpha I have lost her,” reported JP with the most respectful voice he could muster.“What does that supposed to mean JP?”
ZoeI looked at Mason and found him looking pale as if blood has been drained from his face. Then I looked at my mate and the only thing I could see is dead from his eyes. What am I going to do, how am I going to stop him from hurting Mason? While I was still standing there, not knowing what to do, he growled moving toward Mason fast.Goddess! How can a huge thing like him move that fast? “No!” someone said, and I looked around. Everyone was looking at me, even my friends. Oh, I said that, and he stopped. “Don’t hurt him, he is my friend nothing more, and I was only saying goodbye to the both of them.” Okay now he is looking at me and I feel my fear returning.‘Don’t be afraid Zoe, he is our mate, and he won’t hurt us.’ Oh, Goddess, how I missed that voice, my wolf, Nikki. ‘Breathe Zoe, breathe.’ I took a deep breath then continued. “Please, lets go home and leave my friends
ZoeThe drive back to the devil’s pack is silent, not the uncomfortable kind, no, this kind is welcomed. I am driving in the jeep with beta JP and Luka with his family are running in their wolf forms. I can see them on the tree line running, he is ahead of everyone with two wolves flagging him on both sides and the rest following behind. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn that he was a bear, the man is enormous, but his speed doesn’t say so, he is fast, and I mean fast. Their speed is almost matching that of the car we are driving in. “He is not that bad you know.” There goes my peace. “Okay.” Giving him answers Zoe so that he doesn’t say more.“He would rather die than see you hurt or hurt you. That man never thought he will have a mate but here you are. To him you are everything and you don’t know how fast he got here when we thought you were missing. He even brought his whol
