"Guess who just got engaged," Maya said to her friends grinning from ear to ear. She had invited them over for a lunch date at a fancy restaurant in town to share her good news with them and also for them to hang out together, it was their first time comin coming g together since after graduating."Oh my goodness, you are so lucky," Mia screamed and covered her mouth with her hands when all eyes turned towards her as she screamed. But it didn't deter her from shouting out of excitement whenever the situation presented itself."Congrats babe," Deborah said. "I'm really happy for you.""Show us your ring," Mia told Maya and she stretched her hands towards them and they took turns to look at the diamond-encrusted ring. Maya stayed at the hospital for a week to get adequate treatment, a therapist had also been assigned to her to help her deal with what happened and share her pains. When her doctors felt she was okay to face the world she was released from the hospital. Maya's mother called Craig and he helped her bring her home from the hospital. She had nightmares for some days after coming home that she was scheduled for another therapy and with time the nightmares stopped.Physically Maya looked okay, but her spirit had been crushed by the ugly event. She used to be very lively and cheerful but now all she does since they came back home was to sit morosely at a dark corner and cry silently, her emotions pent up within her."What do you want for breakfast, honey." Maya's mum asked her, before going over to where her daughter was sitting staring into space. Since the incident happened two weeks ago Maya had refused to talk to anyone and only spoke when spoken to, she had literally shut the world out.
Today at the hospital had not been hectic which was a welcomed relief from the norm. Kabir had few patients to attend to before he ended his shift and went home.As he left the ward of a lady in her mid 40's that had a fibroid operation last night, he came face to face with a nurse that was trying to reach him.
