Chapter 35

I went back down to the main floor and quickly asked Bruno if he would rather go to the hotel or sleep here, but he chose the first option, so I indicated that I had to come back early tomorrow.

Once he left, I climbed back up the stairs, thankful not to meet the scary lady on them. I didn't think it would be a good idea to go to Claudia's room right now, because if her mother was going to inspect her daughter's room as if she were a teenager and saw me there, I could imagine how she would react.

So I opened the door to what she told me was the guest room and stood there distracting myself with my phone until a good while had passed, and I was able to go out into the hallway to look for her.

When I did, all the lights in the house were off, so I deduced that everyone was already asleep, hopefully Claudia was not.

I walked stealthily until I reached the door to her room, and when I opened it, all that darkness enveloped me. The only thing that illuminated the room was the lamp on the
