Chapter 18.1

I HALTED scooping water on the creek and looked into the part of the woods where trees are all full when I sensed someone looking at me. I put the jar down and went there. My brows furrowed when I found a familiar horse. It took me another step to find who the owner is. I did not expect to see anyone here at this time of the day. He had his grip unto the lead of the horse, seemingly to place it there at the tree.

His lop-sided grin greeted me with utmost enthusiasm while he bathed in the shock expression on my face. I eyed him from head to toe to make sure I was seeing it correctly and that was really him, in front of me. I cannot escape feeling attracted to his looks and charm, his posture and everything, as if feeling bewitched. 

When I regained my senses, I approached him and hit him in the chest.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, nervously eyeing the surroundings for any presence. I was relieved when I got none so I returned my eye to him.
