Gage's POV:
Ashlynn slept for the rest of the day and I couldn't leave her side. The adoption agency called and we scheduled a house visit for Thursday. I let Alex know so he could handle the details. I didn't want to leave Ashlynn alone. I still feel extremely guilty. I know I shouldn't have yelled at her the way I did. I've always been awful about controlling my anger, and I definitely shouldn't have taken it out on Ashlynn. She just came in to talk like she told me she was going to. My work has been pu
The home visit went smoothly. The only worries brought up was the fact that the apartment was located in a busier part of the city. I did my best to assure them that the building had the best security and that I wouldn't let Lily out of my sight. All in all, I passed. Ashlynn has been by my side the past couple of weeks. It's almost mid August now, and I'm going to be having my first meeting with Lily soon. Ashlynn finally gave in on her no touching her without her permission rule after almost two weeks. It was hell, but I know it was nothing like I had put her through. I'm just grateful she was able to forgive me. God knows what my temper would've turned into if she didn't. I have done everything to make sure Ashlynn is happy and that she isn't reminded of anything that'll trigger her past. "Gage, the adoption agency is on the phone," Ashlynn says as she removes my office phone from her ear. She's been actually acting like a secretary while she heals. I
"Ashlynn! Thank the lord you're here!" Jenna cheers when Ashlynn comes back into my office. "I love my brother, but god he does not understand women and their emotions." "Come here," Ashlynn says, noticing the tear stained face of my sister. Jenna jumps off the couch and runs to hug Ashlynn. "I guess I mean nothing now," I say as I stand up. Ashlynn just gives me a playful glare as she hugs my sister. "Is everything alright Jenna?" Ashlynn asks. "Everything is falling apart," Jenna says and slowly pulls back from the hug. "I'm scared Ashlynn." "Why are you scared?" Ashlynn asks Jenna. Jenna looks at me and I give her a nod in hopes to boost her confidence. "I'm pregnant," Jenna says shyly. "I'm terrified. I don't know what to do." "Well first you just need to relax and clear your mind. You don't want to make rash decisions that could effect you in the future," Ashlynn says. "So, just ta
Ashlynn's POV: "You little bitch!" Kylie yells as she throws a towel at me. I just give her a confused look as I fix my hair. "What the hell?" I ask as she stomps over to me."Why am I hearing from Jill that your birthday is next week, next week!" Kylie exclaims, smacking my arm. "We need to plan a party. We also have to get permission from Mr. Cutler but I'm sure he won't mind." "I have to go with Gage somewhere on my birthday," I tell her and she pouts. "I'll try to get him to come back early. We can go to a club or something.""Yes! We need to pick out outfits," She smiles. "Oh and shoes, you can't forget about the shoes!" "We won't forget the shoes," I giggle and throw her towel back at her. "Also, you can invite Elliott. I'm sure Gage will demand to come." "Can't say no to the boss?" She teases and my cheeks flush as I think back to the night at the club when I told
"Ashlynn! Open the damn door!" I rub my eyes and groan at the constant banging on my door. I go to sit up but my body is pushed back down on the bed as I attempt to. Gage's arm wraps around my waist tighter and he pulls me towards his chest. He buries his face into my hair and I can't help but roll my eyes."Don't get up," he mutters and I grab his arm. "I'll be back. I'm just seeing who is at the door," I tell him, pushing his arm off of me. He groans and I get off the bed before he can pull me back down. I grab my shirt off of the floor and slip it on before grabbing a hair tie off my dresser. I quickly tie my hair up and go to the door, opening it to see Jenna standing in front of my door. "Ashlynn! Thank god you opened the door!" Jenna exclaims and pushed past me. "I told Vince about the baby and he's acting like an over protective brother. He wants me to wear a bracelet with a damn tracker!" "Um Jenna-" I start but
"Hi, this is Ashlynn, Mr. Cutler isn't available right now. Can I leave him a message?" I ask once I answer the phone. "Hi, this is the Children's Home in Boston. We just are wanting to confirm the visit with Lily on the twelfth," the lady says. "Yes. Mr. Cutler will be there," I say. "Alright, perfect," the lady says. "Mr. Cutler will need to arrive twenty minutes before the visit so we can discuss important matters about adoption with him. We also would like for him to not mention anything about adopting her straight out. Most kids know what the visit means, but we don't want to get their hopes up if the adoption falls through." "Okay sounds good. Thank you," I say. "Alright, bye-bye," the lady says and I hang up the phone. I write it down on a note so I don't forget what the lady told me about the visit. I giggle at myself mostly for acting like Gage's secretary. I may just have found myself a new job.
Gage's POV: Seriously? Did my brother really just do that? I pull Ashlynn so she's against my chest and grab the blankets to cover the two of us. "Vince, what the fuck do you want?" I growl at my brother who is looking at the floor. Good. "I didn't mean to interrupt, but I've needed to talk to you all day," he replies. "I couldn't find you this morning." "Maybe I was sleeping?" I say sarcastically. I can hear a soft giggle from Ashlynn. "Okay, but for real, I do need to talk to you," Vince says, finally looking up. "I'll talk to you in a bit. Now can you get the fuck out now?" I ask, more like demand. Vince just rolls his eyes before he leaves my room. "I'm locking the door from now on.""Right now you're putting your shirt back on and talking to your brother," Ashlynn says. "I'm going to find a movie to watch." "I'll be back soon," I tell her and press a light kiss to her lip
"Are you sure I shouldn't wear a suit? I feel like I should wear one," I say to Ashlynn as she rolls the sleeves of the black long sleeve shirt she picked out for me. "You are meeting a little girl, not a business partner," she smiles and her hands cup my cheeks. "You need to look like a dad, not a lawyer." "I've never felt more terrified in my life," I admit and lean down to rest my forehead against hers. "It's okay to be scared. I'll be right by your side," she comforts me. "Besides, you get to meet a beautiful little girl today that you want to have as you daughter. It's okay to be scared about becoming a parent." "Do you think I'm ready for it? You know, parenthood?" I ask and she lightly presses her lips to mine for a few moments."I think you are completely ready, you just need to trust yourself," she states. "There's still time before everything finalized as well. Right now you are just meeting her."
It's nearing the middle October and I've never had such a calm period with my business. I have a feeling that it won't last like this for long, but I'm taking it while I can. Everything in regards with Lily's adoption has been going smoothly. I'm going to announce it to my siblings tonight, seeing as I kept pushing it off. "Why are we all in your office?" Vince asks as he lays on the couch. I can see dad roll his eyes but not say anything. Jenna takes a seat in the chairs and her hand instinctively goes to her stomach. She's a few months pregnant now and she has a small baby bump. "Oh sorry I'm late!" Ashlynn runs into my office, almost tripping over her own feet. "I got caught up with some cleaning." "It's fine," I tell her as she walks over to me. I lean down and kiss her cheek as she grins up at me. "Hello? You gonna answer my question, or are we just going to sit here?" Vince speaks up."You're an annoying prick, you
