Everything for the past two weeks before I left had been hectic around the pack.
I was pampered and beatified every day, in order to please Alpha Nicolas. Not that he cared for any of it. He met me three weeks ago, claimed he wanted me as a wife, and I was to marry him two days from now.Every moment we spent together was full of caresses, compliments, and possibly the best treatment any man could give a girl.
The problem: I was aware that everything he did, every present he gave me, and his nice compliments were not for me. They were all for her, for Isabelle- his mate who had been killed by a rogue 6 years ago.It had been early in the morning when I ran away. Now it was almost midnight. I only had with me a backpack with three changes of clothes, my valuables, and some saved money. I knew it would last me a while- at least until I settled down and found a job somewhere.I was given everything when I was at home. Now, things would be a lot harder.I arrived at a town three states over from my pack. There were hardly any cars on the road. Being midnight, no one would really be around. I tried to cover the most land I could during the day, only stopping when absolutely necessary. It was easy to find a hotel in the middle of town and I went inside as soon as I spotted it.The few lamps illuminated the streets and gave the air a mysterious look. There was light fog coating the ground. Had it not been for the gas station and a diner that seemed to be open 24 hours a day, everything would appear creepy.I opened the hotel door to be greeted by a middle-aged lady behind the counter. The place was too small to really be considered a hotel, but it was too nice to be a motel. Outside, the air had been chilly and the contrast to how warm it was inside the hotel was noticeable. The lady greeted me with a kind smile and motioned me over."Hi sweetie, how can I help you?" The lady asked, with a motherly voice. I couldn't help but be reminded of my parents who stayed behind with the pack. Swallowing my pain, I tried offering her a smile."I would like a room," I told her."Sure thing, dear. We have most of the rooms free, so you can pick from the first floor or the second," she told me."I would like the second floor, please," I said to her as she handed me a paper."I'm going to need an identification and for you to fill in this form."I panicked when she asked for my ID. It was obvious I would have to give one, but I wanted to avoid leaving trace of where I'd been."Is there any way that I can leave some parts blank, and not have to give you my ID? This is really important," I pleaded. I would call more attention to myself by doing this, but at the moment, I felt desperate."Honey, are you in some sort of trouble?" The lady asked, as she took my hand and looked at me worriedly."I'm trying to hide from my family. My dad, he..." I couldn't bring myself to finish that sentence. Being married with Alpha Nicolas might not seem so bad to some, but for me, it meant giving up my life."Don't finish that sentence sweetie. I understand. Just fill in the most information that you can and we'll pretend some paperwork got lost, okay?" She smiled at me warmly, and I couldn't help but be grateful toward this stranger."Thank you so much. You have no idea what this means to me. I'm Leila," I told her, offering my hand to shake."I'm Marie, and if you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask. This is my hotel, so I spent most of my time here. But in case you can't find me here, this is my house number." She handed me a business card, and wrote her number in the back.I nodded my head and settled in one of the chairs to fill out the form.I went to my room after assuring Mrs. Marie that I would be fine on my own.The room was medium sized, but had everything I needed. The queen size bed was covered in light teal sheets. There was a comfortable beige couch in front of the bed. A TV was on top of a shelf which had a combination of several magazines.
I decided to take a shower fist since I'd been running and sweating all day.I went to bed right after my shower. Once laying down I could only think of how my life would be from this moment on. I was now a rogue, a lone she-wolf, and the idea was causing different emotions within me.I woke up to the sun seeping in through the window. I didn't want to get up. Despite sleeping all night, my body was still exhausted. I blamed it on the worry of being away from home.I finally got up and walked to the sliding door that led to a balcony. The view, which showed the back of the hotel, was the beautiful forest that covered most of the area.I thought about what my parents would be doing right now. I had brought shame to my family and to my pack. I had no idea whether Alpha Nicolas already knew that I ran away.I was worried about the repercussions my family would have to face, but I was convincing myself that this was the right decision. After asking Marie for directions to the best place to have breakfast in, she led me to the diner I had seen while getting here. She offered to make me breakfast, which was complimentary of the hotel, but I wanted some fresh air.I was sitting alone in one of the booths toward the back. It was around 10 in the morning, but things seemed
We sat down side by side near the shallow waters of the lake.I took off my sandals and folded the bottom part of my jeans, so that I could dip my feet in the water."You are a very beautiful girl, you know that?" Jace told me, as he caressed my cheek and moved a few strands of hair that had fallen over my face."Thank you," I replied, feeling a light blush falling over my face."I hardly see any rogues who are girls, much less have them traveling alone."I wasn't looking at him. So far, he hadn't tried anything, but my best shot of taking him on, was running. Yes, it had been a very bad idea to come alone with him."Yeah?" I simply asked."Dylan, The Alpha, is not a very forgiving or generous person. But, he is my best friend. I'm sure if you ask permission to be part of the pack, and with my influence, you could stay here permanently."I turned to look at Jace. He was being serious."What would the price for that be?" I asked, knowing I wouldn't like his answer."I really like you.
I woke up to loud knocking on my door. I tried to fix my hair and look decent enough before opening the door. I found a grinning Jace standing there, looking wide awake. He looked me up and down slowly, his grin morphing into something else. I looked down to what I was wearing and tried to walk away into the restroom. I had on some short shorts with a singlet.Jace had looked at me that same way he did yesterday while we were getting in the lake.I came out after changing into a pair of clean jeans, leaving the singlet on."How are you doing?" Jace was lying down on his back in my bed, with his hands under his head."I need to buy some clothes," I told him as I looked inside my back pack for my toiletries."I'll take you to the mall today. The closest one is about half hour, so we should leave soon." I looked at him, weirdly, but nodded my head. The mall was packed with people. I didn't expect any less, it was the mall after all. I went through several stores and settled with five
"I think this guy wants to kidnap me," I told Jace, while half hiding behind his back. The Alpha growled when he noticed my movements and glared at Jace."I was going to tell you yesterday, but now is a good time as well. Leila wants to join the pack," Jace told the Alpha."Actually, I'm leaving later this afternoon," I said, while staying behind Jace."The hell you are!" The Alpha yelled, before Jace could open his mouth."What? Why?" Jace asked me, holding my hands in his. The Alpha moved to stand between us and ripped my hands from Jace's hold."Mine!" He snapped at Jace.Jace looked between the Alpha and me with a shocked expression."Dylan, she's- your mate?" Jace slowly asked him, keeping his gaze on me."Yes, and I will not allow you or any other male to touch her," he replied to Jace, in a commanding tone."Understood, Alpha," Jace said, nodding his head and looking at me with a defeated expression. The Alpha, Dylan, grabbed my hand in his and started walking away.I yanked my
"Where is Jace at?" I asked Dylan as I took a seat on one of his couches in the living room."Stop worrying about Jace! I'm your mate, not him!" Dylan growled as he grabbed my shoulders and made me face him."Uh... Jace has my shopping bags in his car," I told Dylan with a disapproving look. He stayed quiet, looking slightly embarrassed."Oh. I'll call him over so that he can drop them off," he replied, hesitantly letting go of me."Do you plan on kidnapping me for a long time?" I asked him as I got comfortable on the couch."You're my mate, I'm not kidnapping you," Dylan said, frowning at me."You are kidnapping, but whatever. My things are at the hotel I was in. I would really appreciate it if you ordered someone to get them," I told him, when I finally settled happily on the couch.Dylan raised an eye brow and looked at me weirdly."What?" I snapped."Don't talk to me like that," he complained.I smirked, enjoying his outburst. Even though I was now trapped here, with my mate, I fe
I walked inside the hotel only to be stopped by a beaming Marie."How's your day been sweetheart?" Marie asked with a friendly smile."It's been okay. I don't want to sound rude, but I'm in a hurry. Sorry," I told her as I started walking up the stairs.Marie winked at me and grinned, which caused me to give her a weird look."I understand. Jace keeping you busy? That boy is such a cutie, don't you think?" We were almost at my room and Marie was still following along. To me, it was obvious there was nothing between Jace and me, but she probably read too much into things yesterday when Jace dropped me off."Yup, that's it. Now I really need to go. I'll see you later Marie."I quickly opened my door and closed it without waiting for her reply. It wasn't my intention to be rude but my things needed to get packed quickly so that Dylan didn't notice my absence. Most of the clothes were still in my back pack. Too bad everything Jace had bought for me today would have to stay here, seeing as
I figured it was the perfect time to keep my vulnerable act on.I slowly walked to the door and unlocked it. As soon as the click was heard, Dylan made his way into the room."We are going to talk about this," Dylan stated, before taking in my appearance."Baby, what's wrong?" He asked, as he embraced me."You are so demanding Dylan, you know that?"Dylan loosened his hold on me and grinned."I am, aren't I?""It wasn't a compliment!" I snapped."Why don't you want to meet the pack?" Dylan questioned, moving us to sit on the bed."I already told you why. I just met you today. Don't you think it's a little too soon to be introduced to them?" I said, trying my best to make it sound logical."You're right, but it still has to be soon. They have to know that you are my mate and everyone has to respect you," Dylan caressed my cheek and was looking at me lovingly. We spent the rest of the afternoon in his house. Dylan had Jace bring my things to the house. I noticed tension between the two
After the heavy make out session we had, and how crazy my hormones and emotions felt, I was sure it was all because of the mark."I waited too long. We should've mated the day I found you. The mark should've been made the minute I laid eyes on you," Dylan replied, not sounding in the least sorry. His words weren't rough- more like he was stating a fact. Nonetheless, the dam in my eyes broke loose and I was in tears again. I wasn't sobbing, but the tears rolled down my cheek and I felt depressed."Why are you crying?" Dylan asked me tenderly, trying to embrace me."I don't know," I said, letting him hold me. It was stupid of me to cry, but I couldn't control it. I felt like a pregnant woman with my emotions and hormones all over the place. We stayed in bed for about an hour. The tears were long gone, but Dylan and I remained together. It was obvious he was worried about my unexplainable waterworks."What do you want for breakfast?" Dylan asked me as he rummaged through his fridge."Do
