(Alpha Everett)

EVERETT

I pushed her off me after I was done f**king her brains out. She looked at me with sadness written all over her.

I sighed and looked away, her sad face couldn’t change anything.

“Don’t look at me like that.”

I stood up and reached for my boxers.

“Why do you keep treating me like this Everett? What exactly do you want?”

She approached and I turned to look at her.

“What do you mean by what do I want? We made this clear before now, all we can do is f**k. I am not putting any marks on you, Annette.”

She stood up and walked up to me, she held my hands and moved them to her mouth, and planted a soft kiss on them.

“You can’t tell me you don’t feel the excitement I feel when I am with you. Everett my heart yearns for you and you alone. I have never felt this kind of way for any person. You are doing something to me Everett and you know it.” She muttered and I yanked my hands away from hers.

“I’m sorry, but this can’t work. I wish it could, but it can’t.”

Why couldn’t she understand that nothing serious can happen between the both of us? I should have known this would happen when we started spending time together.

I turned my back against her wishing she would leave and not let me change my mood.

“You have been saying this for months Everett but you haven’t been with any other woman except me. Why? Why do you give me so much attention if you don’t feel something for me?” She asked in a shaky voice.

I felt so bad for her. I liked her too, but it couldn’t be more than that, she isn’t my mate. She wouldn’t help my family in any way.

“Listen to me Annette, I do like you too. I like you, but…”

She held onto my face and kissed me deeply before I could say any more words.

She kissed me passionately but I stood my ground. I refused to kiss her back.

She stopped after noticing I wasn’t kissing back and she lowered her head in shame.

“I’m sorry. I was so stupid to think something special was going to come out of this relationship of ours.”

She walked to the bed and sat on it, she bowed her head and she began to sob.

“Annette, don’t see me as a bad person but this is how it is going to be. You are not my mate, this is a fling. If I mark you, I’d endanger you, myself, the pack!”

I wanted her to see I wasn’t happy about the decision but it seemed like she was too hurt to notice any of that.

“This is a stupid mistake. It is time we put an end to whatever we are, I can’t keep going like this knowing you still have a mate out there. You don’t even know her… how sure are you that you would like her the way you like me? What if she doesn’t want you to.”

“Everett I have always stood by you since we have been together I have never let anyone else come close to me, I always keep myself for you and you alone. You f**k me with such dominance and free will and I never complained.”

“Now you want to leave me for another girl? Where do I start from? What if this girl isn’t the submissive type hun?” She cried out.

She moved closer to me and stood in front of me looking into my eyes.

“Tell me Alpha Everett! What if she doesn’t like all that you do to me! What if she doesn’t feel what I feel for you!” She further smacked poking me with her finger.

“Annette!” I barked and she stopped poking me. She fell to the ground and began to weep profusely.

I heaved a sigh and lowered myself to squat in front of her.

I pulled the whole of her into my strong arms and hugged her tightly. She fell into my arms weakly as she kept weeping.

It was painful to see her that way but I stood my ground. I can’t go against the moon goddess. I have always respected and worshipped her my whole life.

“I never said I was going to love her, neither did I say I was going to let you go. But you need to understand that if I don’t mark her then my pack is at stake. This is a prophecy that has been before my birth. We are fated to be together by the moon goddess.”

“I was devastated when I heard of it too, but I can’t do anything to change that. I was told she would have to be the one to find me. It is the craziest prophecy I have ever heard in my entire life. But I’m left with no choice than to mark her and her alone.”

As soon as I was done explaining, Annette looked up at my face and she appeared a little calm.

“You need to promise me all you would do is mark her. Promise me you won’t fall in love with her.” Annette pleaded and I shook my head.

“I can’t pledge anything to you now. But I know one thing for sure, I like you so much.” I uttered and I saw her smile faintly.

She laid her head on my chest again and we both kept mute for some minutes listening to our hearts beat.

“I want to sleep,” She mumbled against my chest. I smiled and lifted her in my strong hands.

I carried her in my hands and carried her to my king-sized bed. I placed her on it carefully and covered her with my thick white sheets.

“Wouldn’t you join me?” She asked and I shook my head.

“Not yet… I have a run with the Betas tonight. I’ll join you as soon as I get back. Don’t wait up.”

I planted a kiss on her forehead and she smiled. She watched me dress up and I headed out of the house.

I let out a loud breath looking down the road. It was fine to explore. The road was empty and the street lights were off, the way I loved it.

I began to run down the road, I started at a normal pace and kept increasing it as time passed by. I removed my linen shirt and my pants which stopped right below my knee. I removed them because I didn’t want to ruin them, they were quite expensive.

After a while, I began to shape-shift. It was like flexing my muscles. My strong and sharp paws beat the dirt as I took a turning into the woods.

My speed increased as my superhuman speed was activated. Furs covered my body, and my fingers and toes turned to sharp claws, sharp enough to cut through iron.

The leaves kept beating my hairy body, leaving patterns of water on my hair as I ran with my clothes in my hand. I could hear every sound, I could perceive every smell right from the wet dirt down to the feces of the insects and animals in the woods.

As I ran, I scratched the large trees with my claws cutting their barks deep.

I got to the meeting place in a few minutes and I came to a halt.

I raised my head and looked up to the skies, I howled, and shortly I heard the rushing noises of flapping wings of the birds as they flew away from the trees they stood.

I heard every little sound the woods made.

I stood for a few minutes, waiting for Jan and Volker. All of a sudden, my ears perked as they caught the rustling sound of the branches in the woods.

It was far away but it kept getting closer and closer.

I could perceive them, I sensed the aura around them. They drew closer, and I could hear their heart beating.

“They are here.”

I lifted my head and let out another howl. I stopped howling, and as soon as I stopped, I heard them howl in response.

I beat my paws on the dirt like I was kicking off, which I was. Their panting grew louder and immediately after their proximity, I kicked off.

The race came to an end and we sat next to a river, we lay naked in our human bodies on a rock next to the river.

The breeze was so soothing and a smile crept on my face as I shut my eyes.

“Can’t we do this every night?”

Jan one of my Betas asked and we chuckled.

“We have others things to do rather than having fun,” I told and sat up.

“Have you heard about the moonball party coming up?”

Volker, my second Beta asked. I turned my head and shoot him a severe look.

“I thought that is supposed to be your work, to tell me important information,”

He nodded and proceeded to speak.

“It is coming up the next month, and all great werewolf clans would be there,” Volker told.

“And why are you telling me this?”

“This is the first moonball party in ten years. The last one was during the late King Lukas reign.”

“If we engage this time around, with your achievements and power in Kenna, you would have higher chances of ruling… you could be the next king of Jamba Kingdom,” Volker explained and his suggestion caught my undivided attention.

“You should consider this Alpha Everett, you will be a great king,” Jan added and I smirked.

I thought of what he had said and I took it as a chance to step up my game in the kingdom. I guess it is time to go back home.

“Are the women always present too?”

Jan asked Volker after some minutes of silence.

“Yes, they are always present too. During past times, it was heard that werewolves found their soulmates in this event.” Volker retorted.

I looked over the water and recalled the message I was given. I stood up and spoke up,

“I am not going there for the women. I’m going there to become king.”

They both nodded exchanging looks.

“That would be enough of the party talk, if there is more tangible information, keep me posted,” I informed and Volker gave a bow.

“Can we go one more round before we head back?” Jan asked looking at Volker.

“You should look at Alpha Everett, not me,” Volker responded.

“You can go on, but I have to head back home now, I left Annette on her own,”

I picked up my clothes and began to wear them.
