A Permanent Reminder

[Fallon’s POV]

I close my eyes as Fineon’s strong heartbeat echoes in my head. It’s a calming beat that is almost like a metronome that helps me fully focus and stops all the suffocating emotions I’m feeling in the moment.

Usually, physical exertion would help with calming myself, but this morning it wasn’t working. Though I wasn’t too happy that I was seen in such a state, I was happy for his presence, at least for now.

‘Time to pull yourself together.’ Artemis orders, ‘Or are you going to stay here like this?’

‘No,’ I sigh, opening my eyes again just as a torrential downpour starts. ‘I still haven’t fully forgiven him for what he has done.’

‘So you’re considering doing it then?’

Did I? I didn’t know. My rage and hurt at what had been done faded with each passing day, but that didn't mean I was ready to let him in.

"We should go." I murmur, beginning to pull away.

"Y-yeah." Fineon breathes, though by the look on his face, I know he isn’t happy about the moment ending. "Let’s go."
