When I opened the door to the apartment, Viv's eyes immediately found mine, and her face relaxed instantly, easing the panic that was all over her face as I heard Ted's voice.
"Yes, Mr… no, absolutely there's nothing I'll do first you have my word… I understand but she's not in danger, she's visiting family, of course…. Fuck," I could hear his phone hit the table with an exhausted thump.

ALICE With my eyes shut tightly, I placed my cheek next to Rian's and slid the ring off of my finger. Rian’s chest stopped completely and his whole body tensed around me. His fingers were digging into my hips before he took a deep breath like someone trapped underwater that just came up for air. ALICE When I arrived at Ambrosia, there was an extra bouncer that I didn’t recognize but seemed to spot me immediately, ushering me in without a word.
