ALICE
'It's Finn's head,' Nixon's words floated through me as Linden alerted the pack to go into lockdown.
They'd practiced this over and over growing up. Everyone was to be indoors, those who were able to fight would stand guard just inside their doors, where some houses were equipped with special lights to flip on if needed. First and foremost they were supposed to make it to the bunker under their house, turning off all of the lights and remaining silent until one of us told them otherwise.
We were prepared and the lights surrounding us would keep the Vamps out.
Those red eyes never left me, locked in and ravenous like we had a personal vendetta, and now, now we do.
I might disagree with Linden on so
ALICE Marcy’s back was pressed to the Vamp’s chest where he was holding her tightly and Linden's rage was so uncontrollable that it radiated through our bond making my whole body feel like it was constricting in on itself. Her eyes were shut tightly as silent tears streamed from them, her face and chest were covered in blood, but her heart was still beating and that was the only thing rendering Linden motionless. That and the distance between them. If he moved, the Vamp would kill her for sure before he ever had a chance to save her. Everything seemed to happen at once. Linden’s call for Nixon, sent to every warrior, was only three words in and barely enough time to blink between the moment I laid eyes on her and the moment the Vamps teeth sunk into her. Her sof
ALICEOnyx laid me down beside Linden. His presence, something I couldn’t face when I knew what was coming. My bones were healing almost instantly - being an heir and having the Moon Goddess’s blood running through you came with benefits as much as it did curses.A loud crack radiated through me as Onyx reset my bones, the cracks that followed paled in comparison to the damage done to my heart, my lifeline, my existence. As I regained movement of my legs the disapproval on his face landed on where Lucius bit me.‘It’ll heal,’ I tried to reassure Onyx, hoping it was true because leaving Onyx alone wasn’t an option, but his scowl only deepened as he turned his attention from my leg to Linden. His eyes were staring at the
ALICE It was my turn to cry. The tears spilled over as I tried to recognize my insanity. Lub Dub. Amara was too weak to search for where it was coming from, whose heartbeat I was picking up on as I tried to cling to anything that would make this true. Lub dub. Lub dub. Lub- “Open your eyes volcano,” Nixon’s sweet demand had me wanting to give him what he needed. When I opened my eyes to find his, the lightness of them was almost blinding in comparison to Onyx’s. “Tell me I’m not crazy.” A look flashed between us and before we could blink we were both down on Linden’s chest. We laid on either side of him, our ear’s pressed tightly to his bare skin with our breath h
ALICE “She’s turning Alice,” Bellamy’s eyes glowed a bit brighter, “I can scent a Freshling anywhere, it’s faint, but-” “No,” I shook my head, falling to my knees with her still in my arms, “you’re just smelling the Vamp on her, he could have been-” “It’s not,” Aydin half growled as he went to take Marcy from me but Amara surged forwards, a growl ripping from us that had him halting his movements. I screamed for Nixon out loud, my voice desperate and cracking as my vocal cords cut out, refusing to work as my whole body was trying to reserve what we could to defend ourselves and the Luna. The door shattered against the wall as he flung it out of his way to get to me, his black eyes meeting my desperate ones after he surveyed the room for threats.
NIXON The heat and Nixon’s chocolate scent assured me that he was still alive, but the lack of two heartbeats was enough to startle me awake. Alice was gone. ‘Where are you?’ I reached for her over the link. ‘With Maddy,’ she responded immediately and Declan cleared his throat from the side of the room. ‘She doesn’t look well still, she barely slept a few hours,’ he linked me, clearly not wanting to chance Alice hearing our conversation. ‘You’ve been out for most of the day, nightfall is in a few hours,’ he proactively answered my next question, which meant that crying was almost as draining on me as rebirthing was. ‘What was wrong with her? What is wrong with her?’
NIXON “What are you doing?” I asked Alice when she looked at me like she knew I was there the whole time, her thick scent hanging in the air, more potent than it usually is, “Is that your-” “Yes,” she interrupted, “Marcy needs it to survive now, Nixon.” “You’ve already lost enough,” I hissed, taking the time to really look at her and Declan was right. She looked paler, had bags under her eyes, and reacted slower than normal. We’ve never been sick, part of the shifter charm I suppose, but that's how she looked now. Sick. Onyx was scratching at the surface to be let loose, even though Marcy was Linden’s mate and he understood she needed it to survive, the fact that she was drinking Alice’s blood was boiling his. Marcy looked better, and she was technically dead.
ALICE “Just because you couldn’t survive out there, doesn’t mean I can’t,” Jerrika was arguing with the guards as I approached, “I’m allowed to leave.” “Jerrika, I can’t let you go out there, your dad-” “My dad is dead,” she said, a little too emotionless for a nine-year-old with a baby on her hip. Her back stiffened once she sensed my presence, standing taller as she prepared to face me. “Jerrika, what’s going on?” I looked down at her as I linked some of the mothers I knew had recent babies, ‘I’d like someone willing to nurse another to meet me at the main gate.’ “I’m not a prisoner, am I?” She asked so matter-of-factly with no hint of aggression and I knew what it was like to hide all of your emotions, she must be exha
IAN Scar walked into Ambrosia with a murderous look, nodding his head to the back at me, and talking as soon as the door to the office slammed behind us. “We have a problem,” he paused, “It’s Lucius again. He killed an Alpha-” “Which Alpha?” I could feel every ripple of muscle in me tense. I haven’t quite worked out which pack my little wolf belongs to, but I know where Scar found her. “Black Claw’s, I’ve already ruled out-” “Unless you know for sure, you can’t really rule a pack out,” I snapped as I debated how to go about this, “and I assume that this is a problem because you don’t know where she is?” “She’s resourceful,” he tipped his head slightly down before meeting my eyes agai
