Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Five - Consequences

Kane’s POV

It was ill-thought out. Someone as thorough as Ms Harvey soon discovered the mysterious addition to her walk-in refrigerator. When she came to see me I told her he was a rogue who had tricked his way into the packhouse and suffered a near-fatal injury.

“So why is he talking in tongues?” she asked.

I covered my horror by consulting my mobile and claiming I had to be somewhere else. Just in time I stopped myself from suggesting the medic should take a look at him.

In the process of ushering her out of my office, I tested the water, “How’s Blaylock?”

“Not a peep out of him,” she said, preening herself.

“Keep up the good work.”

By the time I was in the corridor and on my way to see Amy who I knew would be in the nursery, I considered moving the mage to the dungeon. Then I realised that would be far too dangerous. More host bodies for Blaylock to choose from.
