Chapter Twenty-Nine - Bewilderment

Kane’s POV

Maybe I was disorientated but I couldn’t recall fingering Amy on the plane at any point. Sure, I’d tightened her seatbelt and watched her sleeping. The rest must be down to her lurid imagination.

I found it hilarious, too, that she believed I’d deliberately snapped the elastic in her panties. In fact, I’d tried my best not to do so.

Leaving her frustrated hadn’t been intentional, though it perhaps explained her skewed perception.

“That must have been some dream,” I said, causing her to stomp away, one hand still hovering below her waistline.

My chauffeur was waiting impassively and stowed our cases without a word. I didn’t want to ask.

Amy was less discreet. On this occasion, I applauded her for it.

“How is Luna Truman?”

“You can answer her, Connors.”

“I’m sorry, Alpha. It’s not good news. Word is, she’s fading fast.”

I slammed the seat back in frustration.

“How did this happen?”

He knew better than to offer up a theory.

My companion clutched my arm.

“I am so sorry, Alpha K
