As Kieran drove the car steadily, Serenity put the medicine over her wound and started to bandage her wrist. Doing things one hand made her a little clumsy, and it took time.
However, that was the perfect distraction she needed to postpone discussing the gravity of the situation with Kieran. The silence she received from Kieran only caused her nerves to get more and more jittery.
He wasn't planning to kill her and dump her body on the way, right?
It wasn't like him to be so quiet.
But since the man wasn't making any moves, she didn't want to provoke him further as well.
The car stopped when it reached the pack, and Kieran turned to look at her. He then ordered, "Leave everything behind, and enter the pack. If anything potentially harmful is found on you, you will be questioned like someone intending to harm the pack."
Disbelief was written in Serenity's eyes
Serenity shook her head."If you wanted to, you could have killed me way earlier," Serenity expressed."But one day, I will," Kieran replied.Serenity's eyes followed him as he got up the stairs, and she questioned, "Where are you going, Alpha?""To the infirmary."Confusion was written all over her face. "Why?"She noticed his line of sight that fell on her bleeding knees and understood his intention. She didn't think he would take her into consideration and was ready for him to scold her back to her room."Right."Serenity took a step up the stair before sharp pain travelled through her leg, but she managed to control her expression. While climbing the stairs, she limped behind the Alpha, and her slow movement caused the gap between them to increase. When Kieran turned back to look at her state,
Serenity rested her face on the palm while watching the show play on her laptop. Opened packs of snacks laid all over her office's table, creating a messy state.Hearing the knocks on her door, Serenity lazily replied, "You may enter.""Serenity."Beta's voice made Serenity turn her head, and a smile formed on her face. She voiced out, "What do you need me for, Beta?""I heard that you got injured. How is your wrist?" Richard's tone was laced with concern as he looked down at her wrist."You're the first to be concerned. It will take three weeks max if I take good care of it and not irritate it," Serenity answered.Staring at her in dissatisfaction, Richard reproached, "You acted quite foolishly yesterday. There was no need for you to put your life at risk and help Kieran, you know? Instead of being thanked, you even got your weapons confiscated."
A yawn left Serenity's mouth. Both the girls were too energetic. Playing cards excited them a lot, and they stayed awake until they heard the werewolves gather for morning practice. Only after that, they left— not because they were exhausted but because of getting caught. Serenity truly hoped that they wouldn't get caught because she didn't want to lose such a valuable source of information. Although Emma was stern and had tight lips, Lila, on the other hand, was easier to go around. She got to learn a lot of things and also understood that Lila would be the best person to get all the pack secrets out from. She needed to have an alone moment with the woman where she wouldn't be disrupted by Emma. There was a cunning glint in Serenity's eyes. She planned to go to bed when Jake knocked on her door and entered. There was a mischievous smile with a playful twinkle in his eyes that she had no positive feelings about. "Doc, may I enter?" asked Jake. "What do you want?" Serenity que
"You know better than me— the condition of the pack. None of the doctors sent here lived long. I am curious. Until how much longer does the Alpha plan to keep you alive," Jake stated. "Well, I might be the anomaly and survive," Serenity replied in a challenging tone. Serenity cracked her shoulder and stretched her arms as she walked into her office. It had been a long time since she had worked so hard, and after the sleepless night, she needed time to rest. Once the midnight arrived, Serenity knew that everyone had already gone to bed by now. Stepping out of her office, her eyes wandered around to confirm that no one was out there. Relieved at the peace, the corner of her lips curled up into a smile. She sneakily and carefully made her way over to the fourth floor, where the Alpha resided at. Yesterday, she learned from the girls that the Alpha was going out of the pack for the night. Taking advantage of his absence, Serenity planned to enter his office to get the CCTV footage. S
"You acted too impulsively by killing him off," commented Richard. His hand reached out for the glass of wine on the table, and a deep look settled in his eyes as he took a sip out of it. "You intended to keep him alive to extract information."Kieran solemnly stared at him, not appreciating Richard's tone of criticizing him. "I know what I am doing.""You sure? You surely could have saved Serenity without killing him. I am grateful to you for saving my sister, but I know you well. Regardless of what the rumors say, you are not a mindless murderer," Richard stated."I believe I had enough reasons to murder him." There was a warning in Kieran's voice, asking Richard to drop the topic."Alpha, you wouldn't have normally killed him without extracting valuable information from him. But you didn't even question him, rather impulsively took his life. You aren't the one to act on impulse. Why?" Richard's tone sharpened as he placed down the glass on the table. The hawk-like hazel eyes stared
Serenity examined the open wound. The Beta clumsily wrapped around a piece of clothing around the whip marks to prevent the blood to spread around. Serenity experienced her fair share of horrifying wounds, and she could easily classify this among them. Her heart especially ached for Richard. That bastard Alpha, he was too cruel! Richard noticed the downcast expression on her face along with the rage and, with amusement in his voice out of attempt to ease the atmosphere, stated, “The Alpha really went easy on me. If it was someone else, the Alpha would have had the whip poisoned and leave him to rot in the prison.” Serenity scoffed while starting to disinfect his wound. “He is too mean. You could be considered his friend. Everyone cuts their friends some slack.” Richard softly smiled at her. “Before his friend, I am a member of his pack, and I have to absolutely obey him with no questions asked. I did go a little too far. That’s why; don’t get too mad
He called it a prison, but it felt with a dungeon out of a historical setting with most atrocious torture methods. But given the reputation of the pack, Serenity would not be exactly surprised if the legacy of cruel medieval practices were respected and followed in this pack. The prison was situated beneath the pack house. The entrance of the torture chamber was marked by creepy, gnarly bare trees. The rough stone staircase led downstairs into a damp and musty pathway. The strong smell emanating from it made Serenity instinctively scrunch up her nose. The nervous gnawing inside her made her palms wet, and biting down on the insides of her cheeks, she tried to prevent her fear from dominating her. She knew that if they noticed how panicked she was at this moment, it will only get them to act more outrageously.Although Serenity regretted not acting docilely in front of Kieran, it was not as though she could turn the time back. All she could d
Three days have passed ever since she was brought into this torture chamber. What accompanied her during this time period were the shrieks and cries of tortured sols that pierced through the sound of constantly dripping water. If it were not for the timely meals brought over to her, Serenity probably would have lost track of time. At first, she spooked her by being anxious about the demented tortures they will put her through, but after around a whole day had passed, Serenity was starting to lose her mind out of boredom. Now, at this point, a part of her genuinely hopes they would do something to break this stale situation. A groan of exhaustion left her mouth. “This is going to drive me crazy. Where is that Alpha? Is he not going to come and question me? Even the police can only keep a suspect locked for forty eight hours for questioning without proper evidence. Maybe he plans for me to lose my mind here. No, Serenity, stay calm. Count sheeps
