"Do you want to kill me?"

Ruby Maverick POV

I was surprised by his sudden action. Although he seemed angry, his grip on my shoulder was not that tight. He only applied enough pressure so that there was still a gap.

"I can't take it anymore. We need to talk."

I knew I couldn't stay mad at him forever, but I also didn't want to end this matter easily. A relationship is based on trust and honesty, but he wasn't doing either of those things.

I was disappointed, even to the point of feeling betrayed. But after pondering for a few days, seeing the pained expression on his face, and his attempts to start a conversation with me even though I rejected him, I was made to rethink.

For a long time, I only wanted freedom. Trusting someone would only bind me to an expectation that could be shattered at any time. That's why I don't easily put my trust in others.

'If your life is already broken, don't add the burden of trust. It will only invite betrayal.' That's the principle I've been practicing in my life.
