The rest of the day was spent in awkwardness. Roxanne hadn’t left her room and Desmond kept taking Hope to places while leaving me behind.
“Good evening! Where is the Queen?” Silas entered the house, asking the maid in the way who took his laptop bag and coat.
“She hasn’t left her room since morning,” the maid answered.
I was listening to them and waiting for his arrival. Desmond and Hope weren’t home; he had taken her out for dinner so I had a perfect opportunity to speak to Silas about Roxanne.
