NIRVANA

I had to walk out when Knight took the box from me. Dylan knew something more than he let on, and if he went to New York to talk to my grandfather and came all the way here, maybe he really wanted to help, and he could help us fight this war.

I found myself sitting alone in the woods where McKaye trained me. I still had so many things to learn, and we were running out of time.

My hearing caught up. I heard footsteps and twigs breaking.

“Should I leave?”

“No. Sit with me.”

Dylan sat next to me, picked up a piece of grass, and started playing with it. “I’m sorry, Nirvana. This must be difficult for you.”

“You have no idea, and I have no one to talk to.”

“Well, I am here. I know you all don’t trust me, but my only intention is to help you not end this world, our world. If I could trade positions with you, I would already have done so. At least I have nothing to lose, and my friends will understand.”
