Chapter 57Camilla POV…After reaching home, although I had slept in city Y, I still fell in a deep sleep. The other place was foreign and I was not used to it. It was only evening when I woke up and I could feel that I have regained my strength already. It was dark in the room except for the street lights seeping in through the window. But I was not afraid because I knew that I am in my safest abode. This is the only place where I could have an absolute sense of security. As I still lazing out on the bed, the door to the bedroom was pushed open and the lights were switched on. My eyes were already used to the darkness so I squinted a little at the sudden glaring illumination.“Camilla, are you planning on sleeping for a whole day? Although brother-in-law said that we should not disturb you, this is enough!” Zelma's voice came through.“What! I have been sleeping for a whole day? Why didn’t you wake me up?” I asked in a shocked voice.“Brother-in-law said that you should not be distur
Chapter 58Camilla POV…‘So, everything is clear to everyone! I am sorry that I was misguided and I brought panic and grief to the public. I did not know that I was a chess piece in someone’s game, just like the rest of you! I am here to offer my deepest apology to anyone that might have been affected by the news!’This statement repeated itself in my mind over and over again. I could not understand why Lenox is so adamant on going against Lucien. Did he really want to be the mayor for the benefit of the people, or was he actually someone's chess piece? My face was expression less as I thought about this. No one knows this, but I understand Lenox more than anyone in this world. After all, I have once been smitten with him and I knew everything about him like the back of my hand.Although he is slightly smarter than average, there is no way he can come up with something like that! I am one hundred and one percent sure that someone is manipulating him behind the scenes, and that someone
Chapter 59Camilla POV…I did not expect that Lenox will know that I wanted to meet him so badly. Although I was shocked, I did not hesitate to accept his invitation.Even though I knew that I might be walking into a trap, I did not have time to dilly-dally. Lucien's reputation was at stake and the citizens’ reaction online was getting worse. Everyone was cursing at him and there was no voice that was speaking in his favor.I quickly went to the bedroom to get changed before I headed out in a hurry. If Lucien returned before I left, then no matter what I say, he will not allow me to leave the house alone.“Sis, I am leaving. Take care and don’t go anywhere. If Lucien comes back before I do, just tell him that I went to buy something at the supermarket!” I said to Zelma who was sitting dazedly on a chair.I knew that her worries were founded, but what I can do? Lucien needed my help now more than anything else.“Okay sis, please take care and don’t let anything happen to you!”“I know.
Chapter 60Camilla POV…The blind fold and the ropes around me were untied and I was finally free.My eyes were already used to the darkness from the blindfold so they hurt a little due to coming in contact with the sudden brightness. I realized that I was sitting on a chair in the middle of a glaring light.I looked around and only realized that the place where I was, was the only place that had lights. It was so bright that my eyes throbbed when I tried to even open them a little bigger. The rest of the room was plunged into darkness and I could not even see the man who has been speaking just a moment ago. I did not dare open my eyes anymore because I felt that my skull was being spilt apart. My heart was nervous and I finally started to panic. Why is that every time I want to help Lucien, something bad must happen to me? and how did this people make it so natural that I did not suspect anything.Fuck it! Lenox. He must be in cahoots with them! was his phone call to ask me out done
Chapter 61Lucien POV…When I heard Zelma's voice, I knew that something was wrong. I did not care about taking the car because that will only waste my time. With Andy in the front, I run at a speed I have never run before and within the shortest amount of time possible, I was at my mansion.Zelma was sitting on a chair looking dazed.“Zelma, what happened to your sister? Where is she?” I asked the moment I entered the house. I did not care that I was disheveled, because that was not important at this point.“Brother-in-law!” Zelma called out.Her eyes were red and puffed, an indication that she has been crying pretty bad.“Where is your sister?” I inquired.“Sis left some hours ago. Lenox called her and told her that if she wants to know why he is causing you trouble, then she should meet him at Pearl hotel. Sis said that I should not tell you the truth and she said that she will be back soon. But a few hours have already passed and she is nowhere to be seen!“I think that my sister
Chapter 62Lucien POV…After hanging up the phone, I was about to leave the house when one of the secret guards I had arranged to protect Camilla in the dark, came in panting. His was holding his arms which was in a weird position and he seemed to have been injured.“Carl?” I called out his name when I finally saw his face, which was covered in blood.“Master, sorry I have failed you!” he said as he knelt down, not caring about his injuries.Seeing his condition, I frowned as a bad premonition welled up in my heart. Was he injured trying to protect Camilla? If his condition is this bad, then what about Camilla? Isn’t she in a worse condition? Or is she already…I shook my head to get the scary thought out of my mind and looked at Carl with a cold gaze.“Carl, what happened to you and where is your luna?” I asked immediately, in a freezing voice.“Master I...” he uttered the two words before he coughed out a mouthful of blood. He seemed to be injured and it was worse than I had imagine
Chapter 63 Lucien POV… I took a deep sigh and looked into the distance. I already promised Camilla that I will never let anything happen to her, and I am not about to break that promise. I ordered Carl to go back and deal with the mess online. I wanted Camilla to have nothing to worry about once I bring her back. I know that what she saw online is what prompted her to act on impulse and not see the trap that the enemy had set out for her. I was also planning to take over the leadership once I come back. I think that I have given everyone enough time to share their views. It was about time to clean up some dirt in the city and give everyone a peace of mind. With the thoughts wandering in my mind, I reached the suburbs in no time. Andy has never run this fast in the past, it can only show how worried he was about Camilla. Jack on the other hand has not said anything ever since. I know that he is boiling with rage deep down and he is just waiting for his time so that he can vent it
Chapter 64Lucien POV…I carefully carried the unconscious Camilla and laid her on the bed. We were already in the city but she was yet to wake up.I called Liam to take a look at her because I did not trust any doctor apart from him.As for Marcus, he was tied up and thrown in the house basement. I was planning to deal with him after Camilla wakes up.I looked at the frowning Liam who was checking on Camilla and had a bad feeling in my heart.“What is wrong with her?” I inquired.“From my observation and diagnosis, she was placed under some modified UV light and it weakened her wolf, almost killing her. She is too weak now and she will need some time to recover!” Liam said and the anger in my heart surged again.Because of me, she has been injured many times. What frustrated me is that, I could only watch as she wallows away in pain without doing anything. I wanted to use my healing power but Liam said that it will do more harm than good. She has to initiate her own healing; only the
