Hope The following morning, I peer out the chamber window. The pack warriors are training outside. It’s good to see they are all healed. Alpha Maximus isn’t here. He must have up gotten up early. I bathe and dress before leaving the chambers. There are so many beautiful dresses in the wardrobe. I choose a white flowy dress with daisy flowers sewn under the bust and around the edges of the long sleeves. I walk through the castle, trying to find Alpha Maximus. I walk down the second set of stairs and end up near the dungeon. There’s a room nearby emitting white smoke. Curious as to what’s causing it and enter the room. There are many glass bottles, beakers and test tubes with colourful boiling liquids. Colourful crystals are spread out on another table, and an abundance of plants, flowers and dried herbs hang from the ceiling. Alex paces the ground back and forth, fretting. 'She should have been here by now,' he says with worry. 'I'm sure Bella is fine,’ Alpha Maximus reassures him. Alex's phone rings, 'What do you mean? I’m on my way!' he says, hanging up. His breathing is heavy as he grips his head with his hands. What's wrong? What has happened?' I ask. 'Sally said that Bella is bleeding badly. She thinks something is wrong,' he says. 'Where are they?' I ask. They are just outside our territory,’ he says. He then races inside to get doctor Matlin and back outside, shifting into his wolf. 'I'm coming with you!' I say to him. We shift and follow Alex through the fields and the trees until we see a car parked on the side of the road. We can hear Bella screaming in pain. Doctor Matlin approaches the back seat where Bella is. Sally is holding her hand, reassuring her. 'She needs to start pushing. The baby needs to come out now,' Doctor Matlin says. 'Bella, you can do this. Just breathe in and push.
Alpha Maximus Chapter 25
I fold the note, place it inside the sleeve of my dress, and quickly blow the candle out before pulling the stone wall shut behind me. I follow the sound of Maximus's calls. I can hear the worry in his voice. So, I run to find him quicker, 'Maximus, I'm here,' I shout. A few moments later, I’m back in his arms, 'Everyone has been looking for you! I was worried something had happened to you,' he says. 'I was trying to find my way back to the kitchen, and I became lost and-‘ 'Thank the Moon Goddess, you found her,' Nathan says with relief. 'She had become lost, but I have found her now,’ Alpha Maximus says, turning back to me. He takes my hand and leads me back into the familiar areas of the castle and to the kitchen. 'Beth, could you get Hope a drink, please? I'm sure she’s thirsty,’ he says, kissing my forehead. My hands shake as I drink the water. Anna is surrounded by wolves snapping and snarling at her. Then the largest one shifts into his human form. His aura gives off immense power. He must be an Alpha. 'Anna, you have broken the law, along with my son, who is no longer Alpha,’ he tells her. He must be my grandfather Alpha Cal! Anna gasps, 'What have you done to him?' she cries. Alpha Maximus Alex and Bella run into our bathroom after hearing Hope’s screams. 'Bella! get the pack, doctor! Alex, help me get her in the bath!' I shout. Hope thrashes around, trying to free herself from my grip as Alex runs the water over her. But she still feels hot to touch. The cold water isn't helping. 'It burns!' she screams. 'What's wrong with her Alpha?' Alex asks with concern. 'I don't know, but the cold water isn't doing anything! I don't know what to do!' I panic. 'Kiss her!' Alex says. 'What?' I ask, tilting my head. 'When she was in her weird trance earlier, it was your kiss that snapped her out of it!' he says. Alex is right. I kiss her lips. Alpha Maximus Hope sits up, touching her face and then the bed. 'You aren't dreaming if that's what you're wondering?' I say to her. She looks into my eyes, 'There are things I need to tell you,’ she says softly. 'Hope, I already know,’ I say to her. She looks confused, 'No, I don't think you know this,' she says. 'I know your father is Alpha Levi, and your mother is Anna Glint, the witch my parents, tried to hide and save,' I say to her. 'How did you know?' she asks. I hand Hope the love note and watch as she holds the heart pendant in her other hand. 'Did your father gift that to your mother?' I ask. She nods, 'Yes, he did,’ she smiles. 'I'm going to grant you your wish, Hope. We’re going to visit your grandpa, and we are going to free your father.' Hope’s eyes well up, and she jumps into my arms. 'Thank you,’ she whispers. 'This is the first time Levi has been allowed out of the dungeon in over eighteen years, so this better be good, Alpha Maximus!' Alpha Cal snaps. Levi squints his eyes at me as Alpha Cal says my name. 'Your parents tried to save my beautiful mate, my love. She was my whole world,' he whimpers. 'I'm sorry they couldn't save her,' I say to him. 'I'm sorry my father killed your parents, Alpha Maximus. I am truly so sorry,’ Levi says. 'Me too,' I reply sympathetically. 'This isn't some kind of family reunion! So, I suggest you hurry up with your business before I kill you!' Alpha Cal shouts. Even though he is old, probably in his late sixties, he is still very clearly strong and well-built. Hope We join the hustle and bustle of the banquet. The pack members dance with one another. They are laughing and smiling and having a great time. ‘You wouldn’t think we just killed their Alpha and took over. They all seem rather happy he’s dead,’ I say to Alpha Maximus. ‘Considering how he treated his own son. I can only imagine how he treated his subjects,’ he says. My father is sitting at one of the dining tables eating. It must have been years since he has had a proper meal. We walk over and join him. Alpha Maximus pours my father and himself a whiskey and passes me a wine. I feel queasy and pass the wine onto the she-wolf beside me. She smiles and nods in thanks. The pack members cheer for us, and we continue to celebrate. I manage to eat part of my meal but quickly excuse myself and run to the nearest bathroom.
