I stared at the man, my heart racing as she tried to keep her composure. She knew that any wrong move could land her in trouble, but I couldn't help the fear that gripped her. It was the family head.

“Everything is going as well as can be expected,” she said, nodding her head as she spoke.

The man gave a curt nod, his expression unreadable. “Apart from freedom of movement, you say?”

I bit her lip, wondering if she had said too much. But I knew I had to be careful with my words. “Yes, sir. Apart from that, everything is normal.”

He leaned towards me, a smile playing at the corner of his lips. “You might have heard from Nate that the wedding is next week.” He said.

My heart sank. I had been hoping for a way out, but it seemed that my fate was sealed. “Yes, sir. I heard.”
