I ran my fingers through my hair as I processed Donatello’s words.

My heart raced as I sat on the edge of the bed, not wanting or willing to see anyone as I got lost in my thoughts.

The fact that my mother, the woman who had broken so much in me, was as near as wanting to see me was something that anyone else would have wanted.
