Flint visited the priest’s lair often since then, this time with some of his slaves as escorts. But he no longer had to hide nor send spies to watch the priest anymore. Flint had it at the back of his mind that the priest was not trustworthy and could betray him at any time as he did Modi so he threaded with care while he was with the priest.
The priest in turn knew that he could not trust Flint with his secrets but since they had an agreement and Flint had something he needed so badly, he made it his mission to keep Flint close to him, no matter the cost.
Flint had a habit of making himself comfortable anywhere he found himself whether with friends or foes. So he was already comfortable with the priest though he knew nothing about the priest’s plans nor had he seen the slaves in the open field and the object they were building. The priest made sure to hide that part from him.
Flint was not ready to be defeated by an original; he detested them and th
Raul arrived home from work that night with Betty. He met Virgil sitting outside the house listening to some music and playing hand-held video games. On seeing him he remembered what Ella had told him the previous day. He allowed Betty into the house while he spoke with Virgil.“Hey Virgil!” he tapped him gently on the shoulder to call his attention. Virgil took off the earpiece and smiled at Raul.“When did you get back?” Raul asked with a straight face.Virgil replied still smiling. “Oh, not too long ago.”“If I asked you what you’ve been up to, would you tell me the truth?” Raul went straight to the point.“Sure brother. What’s going on?” Virgil took off the earpiece, turned off the music, and dropped it on the bench beside him. He knew something was wrong but he didn’t know what it was.“You tell me.” Raul was leaning on the pavement behind Virgil.
Betty still had the thought of Hayley on her mind. She was bent on finding out all about her that she went to a paper shop after leaving Raul’s apartment that morning. She entered the shop and asked the seller for the old papers to go through them. She sat down and scanned through them as carefully as she could. She spent over two hours searching all the papers she was given but did not find anything about Hayley in it. The seller realized she was concentrating on her search for something so vigorously. She approached Betty and asked with a smile.“Something I can assist you with, lady?”Betty gazed at her a little disturbed and replied. “Yes please…” she paused and licked her lips thinking of how best to place her words so she doesn’t appear like a stalker. “I was looking for the paper that carried the news of some mayor who celebrated a reunion with her long-lost sister. Do you happen to know where that particul
Raul arrived home from work, tired and hungry. He’d had a long day at work and needed to order for himself some fast food. So he made a phone call to place the order and decided to hit the shower. He was in the shower when he noticed that someone had entered his house. He could perceive that it was Claire and he called from the bathroom.“Claire, is that you?”“Where are you, Raul? And how did you know it was me?” Claire replied in surprise.“I’m in the shower. What’s going on? What are you doing here, this late?” Raul smiled as he rounded up his bath. “Kal isn’t here now.”“Yeah… I didn’t come to see Kal.” Claire confessed taking a seat in the living room to wait for him. “By the way, where’s everybody?”“They should be back soon. Virgil and Kal are at Tom’s,” he replied as he got out of the bathroom in jeans
Hayley had developed a strong bond with her sister, Kara. Such that she had never enjoyed even while with her brother, Lucas. She had spent such a long time there that she almost forgot about Stan. It has been a few weeks since she moved over to the mayor’s house and she was enjoying all the privileges attached to being the mayor’s family member.Stan on the other hand went on with his life. Though he missed Hayley and called her often, he did not want to get heartbroken again. He decided to take a few days off into the main city area where he spent a few days trying to entertain himself. He walked into a restaurant to get himself some fast food and relax while he was sober. Raul approached him to take his order. Apparently, he had walked into Raul’s workplace. He smiled at Stan and took his order. He somehow felt the need to be close to this particular customer, after all, he was almost done with work for the day. He went on to prepare Stan&rsq
Hayley sat with her sister to dinner. She suddenly thought about Stan and wondered why he had not been taking her calls. She was silent at the table and Kara noticed it.“You’re awfully quiet today; something wrong, little sis?”“Um… nothing serious. I was just thinking about…” Hayley managed a smile.“Stan?” Kara cut in quickly.Hayley exhaled and rolled her eyes. “Please don’t say he’s my boyfriend again.”“But then what is he? He’s your boyfriend if you’re worried about him like this.” Kara argued.“I’m just worried that he may be in trouble. He never misses my call but he’s not been taking it these few days.” Hayley tried to defend herself.“What kind of trouble would a grown man like Stan be in?” Kara teased. “He’s been taking care of himself all these years even without you or hi
Lucas had imprisoned his luna for weeks in the dungeon and has refused to see her even for an explanation. He spends most of his time in Modi’s territory forging a strategy to infiltrate Flint’s territory. They had no idea that Flint and the priest had become very close. They made their plans devoid of Flint’s new affairs. This was a good distraction for Lucas who was suffering from being betrayed.Modi visited his place this time and met him in his lair, looking unkempt. He entered Lucas’ lair, led by one of his minions, and found him sitting on a chair, topless and almost pale.“Hey, Lucas!” Modi greeted him softly.Lucas tilted his head slightly to find Modi standing beside him, looking worried. “Any news of Flint?” he asked.Modi exhaled and sat beside him on a chair. “Haven’t seen you in days so I decided to come to see you myself. I sent word to you but didn’t get any response.&
Stan cuddled Hayley on the couch where they sat together watching a movie and chatting over a bottle of wine. Stan told her about his trip but did not mention Raul as promised.“It was torture; being away from you.” He concluded and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead.Hayley smiled and looked up at him. “Why did you leave without calling me? Is there something I should know?”“Um…” he was mumbling. “I-I… I guess I just missed you so much. I couldn’t stand the thought of losing another love since you never showed up as promised.” He paused. “You promised to visit me every weekend, remember?”She scoffed. “Stan!?”“I know; I know…” he cut in. “I was overthinking it. I’m sorry.”“No; that’s not what I was going to say,” Hayley replied softly. She caressed his face gently and continued in her sweete
Raul did not yet develop the courage to talk to Betty. He had not visited Tom and Heather in a while. He was too busy working or worrying about Hayley. He sat in bed at exactly 6 am gazing at the paper that had Hayley’s number in it which Stan had given to him the other day.He thought about calling her but hesitated for lack of words. He did want to call her because he missed her so much and wanted to know what was up with the priest since she was the last one to see him. He ran his hands through his hair because he was overwhelmed. Immediately, there was a knock on the door. He noticed that his friends, Kal and Virgil were still fast asleep so he had to get the door himself. He wondered who it was coming so early in the morning. He took a peep through the door’s peephole and saw Ella standing there. He had almost forgotten about her and their last encounter that almost broke him and Virgil because he thought that he was deceiving and lying to him.
