“You…you do?” I asked nervously.
“Yes…you told her how poorly I’ve been treating you.”
My body relaxed. He didn’t know I’d gone to see Ewan and he didn’t seem angry at all.
“Oh um…yeah, I just…I didn’t have anyone else to talk to and I thought of all people she would understand,”
Ronan’s eyes saddened. “Because of my father?” I nodded. “Bowen, I don’t want to be like him. I want to be better than him. I know I said I wanted a marriage like theirs, but I meant because they love each other a lot regardless of the bad shit.”
If only he knew how his mother really felt.
“What?” Beta Grant asked. “You must hurry! Get Luna Bowen to the garage!” “Why the garage?” “It’s what Alpha Ronan said! We must go now!” Beta Grant grabbed my hand and pulled me up. I tried to keep up, but these damn heels were going to break my ankles. “Bowen faster!” He urged, tugging me harder. “I’m trying!” I exclaimed. Finally we reached the garage. Beta Grant quickly locked the side door. “Who would even be attacking us right now?” I asked. “I don’t know, but Ronan has a lot of enemies.”
My eyes widened.“A-A baby? Darling we just got married!”“I know, so now it’s time to start working on having them, right?” Ronan questioned. “It’s what I want.”“What if..it’s not what I want?”Ronan’s jaw clenched. “Could you try to want it?”I bit my lip. “Ronan it’s just…I’m only twenty. It just all feels so fast and soon. Can’t we give it a few months maybe?”“No,”“So you’re going to force me to have a kid with you?”“If I
The packhouse shook at the sound of an explosion.“What the fuck is that?” Ronan demanded.“They have Jinxes with them!” Beta Grant informed us.“Take Bowen to the bunker, now!”“Wait, Ronan, where are you going?” I asked.“I have to go fight with the pack.”The last time a man said that to me he died.Maybe I would get lucky and history would repeat itself.“Okay, go. Be safe!”He kissed me before running off.
“Oh fuck!” I groaned. “Why did you come with me?” “Come with you?” Beta Grant asked. “Bowen what the hell are you talking about?” “You fucked up the spell and now you’re with me in The Boisbury Grove!” “Bowen…we didn’t go anywhere. We’re in the same place we were before.” “No, she did the magic…the spell. I was supposed to go to the Boisbury Grove to get away from Ronan.” “Well that didn’t happen.” He got up. “Looks like the jinx fucked up the spell, which is good because Ronan would have killed me if I let you get transported that far away!” “Something isn’t right.” I whispered, forcing myself up. “You ruined everything Grant!”
We hit the water hard. The cold water was a shock to my system, but I forced myself to swim up. I gasped for air as I broke the surface. “Grant?” I looked around desperately. “Grant where are you?” It was dark and I had to squint furiously. I saw a figure floating in the water and swam over to it. Grant was face down and not moving. I grabbed his arm and pulled him through the water to the shore. I started doing CPR hoping and praying to the Moon Goddess that I could revive him. After a few moments, Beta Grant sputtered and coughed up water. “Oh, you’re alive!” I sighed happily. “I’m shocked you’re so happy about that,” He wheezed.
“Do you have identification like I did?” He questioned.I took my backpack off and looked through it. There was a wallet with a picture of me in it. “I guess my name is Bowen.”“I like that name,”“I like the name Grant,” I smiled. “Um…what are we doing here Grant?”“I have no clue…I think we’re together…I mean like we’re traveling together! I don’t know about…”“We could be boyfriend and girlfriend,” I pointed out. “You never know.”I wouldn’t mind it at all.Grant was insanely
Beta Grant refused to look at me.I swear we had been walking for at least an hour with complete and total silence. It was kind of killing me.“Okay, can we please talk about what happened?” I asked.“I’d rather not thank you.” He grunted.“Come on, that was kind of funny right? We were actually getting along.”“Getting along? That was more than just getting along. We were five seconds away from fucking each other.”“We didn’t know who we were,” I shrugged. “That means you and I would actually be able to stand each other if we met under different circumstances. Isn’t that interest
We hit the ground as the dragon swooped down on us.“We have to go!” Grant grabbed my hand and pulled me through the canyon. There were giant eggs everywhere that we had to dodge.I felt heat from behind me and realized the dragon was breathing fire at us! What the actual fuck!We ducked into a cave, breathing heavily.“You didn’t tell me anything about dragons!” Grant hissed.“I didn’t fucking know!” I shot back.“It didn’t tell you on that damn map of yours? It told you about the magical pocket.”“No, all it said was Wyvern Gully.”
