Chapter 53: Acquaintances gather

I despised and mocked him. "Don't think that you and I are alike; it's like you're putting me down."

The corner of Rowan's lips twitched as if I had angered him. Rowan lowered his head, that big hand gripping my chin; although it hurt, I decided not to complain.

“Good job, kid! Now you are an adult, and your speech is sharp. You are like a miniature copy of your cursed mother. And that makes me want to skin you down and throw it to the wild dogs, and it still isn't enough to make me vent." Rowan spoke harshly. "But rest assured, it won't be long before you are reunited with your parents."

I am indignant. "You have no right to insult my mother."

Rowan heard it but pretended not to; his eyes widened as if he had just remembered something interesting; he smiled and patted my cheek. “Ah, I forgot. As for Ryan, I'll let him be your friend on the way to hell."
