I stare at his hand, unsure of what I should do.

"Come on," he tempts, pushing his hand out closer to me. I recoil back a single step. No way. He can't be serious right now. Does he understand the consequences if Rylan found out? One of them will die, and with Rylan's temper, I have an idea of who that might be.

I turn on my heel and walk back down the corridor, leaving him where he stood, as I said over my shoulder, "don't be ridiculous, we aren't mates. I have one."

He knows about what I'm cursed with, but I don't want him to start thinking he truly is my mate. Just because he showed up here out of the blue, doesn't mean Fate decided he would be my mate, even if it does make a lot of sense.
