Emily’s POV

I typed the message with a smirk, "You missed me again," and added a mocking emoji for good measure. Imagining the look of frustration on her face as she received it brought a fleeting sense of satisfaction. I hit send and leaned back, savoring the moment.

The search for Mark continued, but I was determined to keep things under wraps. This wasn’t part of the original plan. Kidnapping the twins was never on my agenda. The children were innocent, undeserving of the fallout from their parents' mistakes. Jasmine should have been the one in my grasp, not these innocent kids.
