Feeling the warmth of the new morning cascading over me, I slowly blink my eyes open only to be greeted directly by the light of the sun. A familiar heaviness weighs across my hips, tilting my head I see a very peaceful Zac fast asleep behind me. His velvety lips parted just slightly, letting his warm breath tickle the nape of my neck. Rogue locks of his chocolate hair dangle across his uncreased forehead. Moving as to not wake him, I sit up and glance around what I’m guessing is the master bedroom. I don’t remember coming to bed, but this room, wow. Three walls of windows separated by rustic cedar planks look out into a thick forest. The large bed with lush linens offered a front-row seat to endless serenity. The last thing I remembered, we were in the larger soaker tub after a hot and heavy session on the couch. A shiver ran up my spine as I thought about the way Zac took care of my needs during and after the sex. This man was almost too good to be true. Goddess, was he my r
“This isn’t the way we came?” “I need to stop over at Council Hall in Green Hill before we head home.” Crinkling up her nose and furrowing her brows, she tilts her head questioningly at me, “what for?” “My, my, nosey aren't we little wolf?” I reply with a soft chuckle. Her body stiffened slightly in the passenger seat of my 4Runner, “Uh, sorry”. Patting her creamy exposed thigh with my hand a few times, before letting it rest there. “I’m kidding, you’re my Luna, you have the right to know any pack business. And besides were mates, so, no secrets” I say lifting my eyebrow and glancing over at her. She nods and I watch as she visibly relaxes back into her seat. My eyes can’t help but linger over her exposed cleavage. She’s wearing this super weird, but super sexy tank top that has two straps that come together as one and go over her right shoulder. A large teardrop-shaped opening perfectly frames the rift between her perky tits. The way her nipples are pebbling through the materia
“I thought you were like boy genius or some shit” “If you want to do it, be my guest,” Jace says peering up at me over the top of his laptop. “I’m the muscle, you’re the brains, so just, just, I don’t know, be brainer” He narrows his eyes at me before returning to his computer screen and mumbling to himself so quietly that not even my werewolf hearing can make out the words, “Damnit! The files encryption is way harder to crack than I anticipated” “So… what does that mean…” “It means, I need to write a whole other program to run through the code and show me weak spots and then another one to help me alter the security and I have to do it carefully to not alert the council's IT teams, or else the TRACERS will be knocking on our door.” Before I have time to come up with any sort of smart-ass remark, my phone pings in my pocket as Jace’s vibrates on the desk. I raise an eyebrow at him as I pull my phone out. ‘Grayson: Alpha Zac’s office, twenty minutes.’ “Grayson?” Jace nods, “
Relief washes over me, the tension in my muscles ebbing away at the sight of Isla coming into my office. Grayson has gone to fetch Fiona for questioning and I’m thankful for a few moments with my mate. No sooner has she closed the door, I’m in front of her pulling her to my chest in a tight embrace, letting the tiny sparks light up my central nervous system like the sweetest form of shock therapy. Ever since we got back from the cabin we’ve been living in a constant state of chaos. I’ve done my best to keep my walls up and keep my emotions from trickling through the bond with Isla, but it's become more of a struggle to keep composed. Council Alpha Garret called yesterday, the TRACERS are still out searching for Alec with no solid leads. It's been a fucking week and they know nothing, or so they say. My confidence and trust in the council are as thin as my patience lately. They think he’s gone underground, hiding out somewhere, plotting. No fucking shit sherlock. I’m more than
“Shit, that one stung,” Audrie says rubbing her jaw as I reach a hand out to help her to her feet. “I guess all the stress and anger is finally surfacing” “Nice job everyone, that will be it for today,” Zac yells out and claps his hands together, signaling the end of training. Reaching down to my gym bag to grab my water bottle when suddenly a wave of nausea hits me like a mac truck out of nowhere. Clamping my hand over my mouth I run off to the locker room as the bile starts to burn up my throat. I just barely make it to the stall before completely emptying the contents of my stomach into the bowl. So much for finally being able to eat a whole meal... Sitting back on my butt, I lean my head on the cool metal wall of the stall just as Audrie comes bounding through the door. “Girl! What was that, are you okay?” Her voice was laced with worry. “Mhmm, I don't know, I don't think breakfast agreed” I murmur with arms wrapped around myself. Her face softens, “I’m sure all the stress
Stepping into the brightly lit waiting area of the infirmary, a younger girl with creamy caramel skin and bright eyes, peaks over the top of her computer at me. She smiles at me so big, it reaches her eyes, “Luna, what can I do for you?” “I’ve been having some spells lately and the Alpha insisted I come to see Dr. Ausitn, is it possible for her to see me?” “Of course, why don’t you take a seat over there and I’ll let you know when she’s ready.” Smiling back at her I tip my head and take a seat in over padded black vinyl chair in the far corner, pulling a kid's comic book from the well-stocked shelf to flick through. The waiting room is surprisingly cozy, with warm tan walls with pictures of the pack's infirmary and those that have worked here through the years in sleek frames on all the walls. It’s hardly been five minutes when I hear my name being called. I walk over to the doorway where the doe-eyed nurse is holding the door back with a hip as she jots more down on the clipboard
Pinching the bridge of my nose, I toss the folder of contracts on the desk. All the legal jargon was starting to give me a headache. Acquisitions were great for the Ellis Group’s business but reading through all the negotiations was a real bitch. I’m glad my dad’s still around, I have six of these to get through and the second set of eyes is helping me get through them. Leaning back in my chair, I close my eyes to rest for a minute. Thinking back to this morning in the shower…the stress relief had been more than welcome for both of us. The council's shotty job and lack of advances on the search have been grating on my nerves even further. Maybe I’ll order some food and see if Audrie and Connor want to come over and hang out with Isla and me tonight. Food, drinks, good company….distractions, and a bit of calm amid this storm would be good for all of us. If we were lucky it could lead to a good night's sleep for Isla also. I could sure as hell use the sleep too. I would never say any
The overly bright rays of the morning sun penetrate through my eyelids, causing me to stir. Begrudgingly, I blinked open my eyes only to squeeze them shut again. The dull stabbing in my head was fighting the ringing in my ears for dominance. I swear my whole body was aching like I had spent the night in battle. What the fuck happened to me? Reality smashes back into me without warning, and my eyes fly open. The harsh light no longer slows me. My heart lodges into my throat; I look around and realize I'm still in my office. I stretch and draw in a deep breath. The faint stale stench of whisky and blood permeates the air around me, cocking an eyebrow and sitting up to find the source. I see the bar cart, and its contents have been knocked over, well mangled, actually. Once filled with different liquors, each glass decanter now covered the floor in pieces. Glass shards caught the light like a dangerous version of glitter. Trailing around the room, my eyes continue to take in the damage
