Chapter Twenty-Five
Dinner tasted absolutely amazing and I found myself craving seconds, but then dessert came and as I did a little happy wiggle in my seat Silas chuckled at me, his honey-brown eyes bright with amusement. I just shrugged and dug into the delicious cheesecake, savouring the first bite with closed eyes and a content sigh.
“I take it dessert is your favourite meal?” Silas asked with a chuckle as he moved some of my curls back behind my shoulder.
“Yeah, I have a pretty big sweet tooth for certain things.” I admitted with a shrug. Before he could respond his eyes glazed over like he was being mind linked. After a few seconds, he sighed and shook his head as his gaze focused on me.

By the time we walked into the cabin, I felt like I was going to hyperventilate. The walk back had been silent and even now as we got into the cabin I was grasping at any idea I could to convince him I was sleeping on the couch and nothing was going to happen. I groaned and pulled the blanket over my head as the ungodly loud chitter of a squirrel woke me up. I growled and tossed my blanket off, stomping across the floor to shut the patio door and silence the squirrel. I squinted into the slightly dark morning air and realized it was really really early. Varin will be my Beta still and Alaric you will become head of my warriors, Laris will be Gama of the pack still as I don’t have one. I woke to the smell of fresh coffee, warm, fresh-baked bagels, the fragrant wood smoke from the crackling fireplace, and the absolutely distinct and pleasant scent of Magnus. I stretched and groaned with how good it felt, sitting up and looking around the room. I saw Magnus sitting on the chair by the fire, once again in just his lounge pants, coffee cup in hand as he read the paper. I smiled at him and sat up, climbing off the bed and moving to sit on the chair across from Magnus, enjoying the warmth of the fire even though it wasn’t cold enough outside to need it. I sat with my knees tucked into the chair and pulled a fresh bagel that was still warm towards me and spread some cream cheese on it before taking a bite. God that was so good. “Morning little wolf. Sleep well?” he asked as he sipped his coffee and smiled at me.
