I shrugged. “Come on, now. Is this some sort of a police interrogation?” I asked calmly.

He shifted on his sit. I walked easily to the sitting area and sat down at the corner. I had to act as relaxed as possible so he wouldn’t notice that I was lying through his nose. He would have to remain oblivious to everything that I was saying.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to sound that way. I’m just a bit worried about everything that is going on so far, and I want you to be safe from evil eye,” he said softly.

I smiled. “I know that there is a lot going on out there, Ian. And, I wouldn’t do anything stupid. I have to make sure that I am on my best behaviour always. I just went for a run. That’s just it,” I lied smoothly.

He sighed. “I believe you, dear.”

I frowned. The way he had said it was so strange. It was like he wanted to say something else too. I licked my lips slightly and noted he was staring at his slippers.
