“Holy shit.”
“What the fuck just happened?”
“Did we really just witness that?”
“Luna laid him out. She actually laid out Alpha.”
I put my hands on my knees. My body hurt from all the times he had hit me. I didn’t think anything was broken though. Kai brought her eyes and I looked at the scene in front of me. He was bruised to hell and his arm was swelling from where I cracked his arm. But he was laid flat on the ground. The captains were all just staring on the sidelines, slack jawed.
“Anyone want to help their Alpha?” I called to them, still trying to catch my breath.
Everett and Jude came forward and picked him up, taking him over to the bench that was against the training building. Hector and Bryan came over to me, helping me stand up straight.
“Shit, he’s strong. It’s been a while.” I laughed. “I’m out of shape.”
“Luna, no one has beaten him before. On my best day and his worst, I can’t beat him.”
I rolled m
“Whatever you’re thinking, you might as well do it.” Bryan walked in and opened up the refrigerator. He poured some of the iced tea I made the other day into a glass. “You’ve been staring at the phone for the past ten minutes. Just do it.” I nodded. It had been three months since the Gathering. Since I had spoken with my siblings. It had been gnawing at me a little that I hadn’t called to check in. To see if Ty found his mate. To see if Maddie had found hers. I had thought about them a few times but so much happened it was forced to the back of my mind. I also didn’t know if I was ready for it. I picked up the phone and dialed Ty’s cell number. ‘Hello?’ I cleared my throat. “Hey Ty.” ‘Holy shit, Auri? Is that you?’ “Yeah. I just wanted to…check in.” It was nice to hear his voice. Bryan gave me a thumbs up as he sat at the kitchen bar with me. ‘Checking in?
“Logan! We need to leave in soon! What are you doing?” I put a necklace on and smoothed out my dress. We were taking the drive to Midnight Howl pack for Ty and Christine’s baby shower. Ty asked me to come early and I was happy to, but Logan had gotten exponentially busier the past three days. I walked out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Bryan was walking up and he whistled. “Looking good, Luna.” I rolled my eyes as we high fived past each other. Walking down the hall, the door was cracked open to Logan’s office. He was on the phone, his head in his hands. There was double the amount of paperwork on his desk than there normally was. “Look, I don’t care whether this goes through or doesn’t. If anything it’s more paperwork for me to do. But I’m not going to just let them flip flop. They have 48 hours. If they don’t agree, we will move forward with the other plans.” Logan looked up at me and wav
The engine of the Bugatti roared into the driveway and I listened to Ty and Logan talk excitedly. They came in and Ty sat down at the table, Logan leaned again the kitchen doorway. “Oh man, Christine. One of my bucket list drives.” He looked like he was going to cry. “We’ll have to have Bryan bring the Lambo next time.” I smiled at Logan as I leaned against the kitchen counter. “You have a Lamborghini too?!” Logan chuckled. “No. It’s my Beta’s. What possessed him to get a yellow one will always be beyond me.” “Auri. Take me with you.” Ty whined. “Nope. You’re on your own. You need to take care of my niece or nephew.” Ty whined but I turned my back on him. I gathered the ingredients for the frosting and started to cut the cake in three
I pulled away from Logan and leaned against the wall in front of him. My father and Melissa walked in and I could feel the tension from the five of us. Christine gave a quiet hello and my father shook Ty’s hand, clasping him on the back. There was still a lot of chatter in the room and not many people noticed the awkwardness. Christine’s parents did though and I could hear their whispering in the corner. “Dad, mom, Auri is here. She made the cake for today.” Ty, I’m sure, pointed at me. I gave a short wave and a strained smile. Honestly, I was afraid of what Logan or Cato would do. 'Logan’s back.'Kai said quickly. My father stalked up to me. “Girl. You are two weeks late. You have some expla
I quickly fumbled for my phone. “Bryan.” ‘Coffee work?’ “He just left.” ‘What?’ ‘I…I…” I stuttered still in shock as I looked out the window. “I had my music on and I started to sing. I didn’t realize it. But halfway through the song, he pulled over. He just threw it into park, opened the door, and just left. He took his wolf form and disappeared into the forest.” ‘You’re sitting alone in the car right now? He just left you alone?’ “Yeah…” ‘What the hell?’ “It was a rough day. A lot happened with my family. He was livid but I don’t know what to do. Do I go after him?” ‘No. Get in the drivers seat. Continue back home. I don’t want you alone in a vulnerable spot. You’re in between territories and a Luna is fair game from a lot of enemies. Shit. What the hell is he thinking?’ I unbuckled my seat and crawled over the center console. I got into the driv
I looked at Bryan. “You know, funny enough we are. The ass just left me in the car on the side of the road. Alone. I need to kick some sense into him.” ‘Well, he looks like he’s had an interesting go of it today. My boys found him passed out in the forest. Butt naked.’ I sighed and turned the stove off. “Is he at the club?” ‘Yeah. He wasn’t too far away so we figured it would be best to bring him here.’ “My stupid mate. The things I have to do.” “I think I’ll stay behind for this one.” I looked at Bryan, a little confused and hurt. “Fine. Look after the pack. I’ll be back.” I grabbed a granola bar from the cupboard and headed out the door. I jumped in the Mercedes just because I knew the seat was where I needed it. I munched on the cereal bar as I drove like Morgan had taught me. It only took me four hours and was about 11pm when I pulled up. I tossed the keys to the valet and Fr
***Logan’s POV*** I bolted awake only to be met with a splitting headache. Looking around, I was lying on the living room couch. Bryan was sitting across from me in the recliner, his tablet in his lap. “Morning cupcake. How you feeling?” “Like a herd of elephants just ran over my head.” “Damn, Luna has a hell of a right hook.” A smiled played on his face. “What?” Bryan closed the case on his tablet and leaned forward. “Let’s play a game. Its call the ‘Lets See what Alpha remembers in the last 24 hours’ game.” He seemed annoyed, almost angry. “What do you remember about yesterday morning?” I squinted my eyes. “I remember….waking up next to Auri. I had a phone conference in the morning. So I got up, got dressed, made coffee, and had the leftover sandwich Auri made.” He clapped enthusiastically. “One point! You’re already doing better than last time we played.” Sarcasm was dripping from his words. “What’s ne
***Auri’s POV*** Over the next few months, we dealt with the increasing rogue attacks. None of them were as big as the one the day of Ty’s baby shower, but they were still exhausting. Logan wouldn’t let me out though to help in the field. Instead, I took up my place at his desk in taking care of all the pack and business paperwork. I had become well versed in everything that had to do with his businesses. He trusted me now to just take care of it if I felt comfortable doing so. But as the months went on, I felt increasing anxious about Morgan. The High Council was not fun. They were a collection of overseers, or they liked to think of themselves as protectors of the peace between supernatural beings and even humans. They liked to make decisions, thinking that they were making them on behalf of their entire race. But corruption was deep and you had beings who were over a thousand years old. It just created a lot of headache for everyone. Not to mention
