ANNE

I yawn before opening my eyes. Instantly, I am met with Zero’s peaceful face. It takes me a moment to realize why he is holding me as if his life depends on me.

A smile lights up my lips as I touch his cheek with my fingers. His eyes snap open, peering back into my eyes.

He doesn’t say anything. I drag my fingers to his forehead, brushing the stray hair back. My gaze follows the movement of my fingers as the smile remains plastered over my lips.

I can feel his presence deep inside my mind. It’s a calm feeling that keeps my mind at rest. I never knew being marked by someone felt so good—so intimate.

“ Are you okay? ” He whispers in his smooth voice.

I blink, my attention drawn to those two black holes. “ Yes. ”
