Chapter 30

Lilith's POV

I wanted to lie, but I couldn't bring myself to open my mouth and utter a word. Tension hung in the air. I needed to say something, but I didn't know what to say.

"She did this, didn't she?" Adrian, who had been staring into space, asked coldly as he turned his gaze towards me.

"No, she did not. I... I... fell..." I stammered.

"Fell into the ditch and managed to get yourself strangled by the water and your face gnawed by its invisible claws," Adrian finished sarcastically, cutting my words short.

I swallowed hard, not knowing what to say. I couldn't lie; they already knew the truth. I would only be complicating matters if I decided to lie any further.

"When did she do this?" Joseph asked.

I sighed. "It was early this morning, around 4 a.m.," I replied.

"What exactly was her reason for doing something as despicable as this to her own daughter?" Adrian growled. He had been struggling so hard to suppress his anger, but he couldn't hold back any longer, leading to the outburs
