Chapter 36 Shifting

Aurora

I wake up in an insane amount of pain. I try not to scream out because I don’t want to alarm Aamon, but I’ve never felt pain like this in my life.

My body felt insanely hot, every inch of me was agonizingly painful, there’s no position I can get into to ease my discomfort.

I couldn’t help the low guttural moan that come out of my lips. It causes Aamon to sit up and look at me and he says, “Aurora? Oh goddess, I think you’re shifting!”

I grit my teeth, trying to get through the pain. He tells me, “I’m going to pick you up and bring you outside. Connecting with nature is one of the best ways to get through it. Okay?”

When I don’t respond he picks up my body and moves me outside to do as he suggested. He sets me down in the sand since we live right on the beach. We’re near the water because the tide keeps washing over my body helping me cool down. I take a shuddery breath and I can feel Aamon as he runs his fingers through my hair trying to soothe me.
