21. Confrontation

"I don't," I spoke out.

I heard everyone gasp at my decision. I looked at Samuel, he looked baffled, while my dad was shocked as well. But I could read his expressions, I don't know how, but somewhere, he did know I would do this.

"Maya... Maya, you... You have to say I do," Samuel spoke, trying to fake his smile while holding my arms.

He still couldn't believe that I was rejecting him. He was baffled and his mixed emotions were making it clearer. I felt bad hurting him like that, but I had to do what I needed to do. He will have to understand I can't get married to him just because he loves me.

"No, Samuel. I am saying correctly. I don't. I don't want to marry you," I replied in a composed tone, even though I was freaking out at the act that I carried just now.

"What kind of joke is this?" Samuel's father scoffed and stood up.
