Salara’s POVNone of the three pack members say anything about the need to leave for an hour so Derrick can “calm me down” and I am forever thankful for that. I am not sure that I would have been able to fight the embarrassment if they had said something about it.We all settled back to where we were seated before my angry outburst and Derrick motions for the Elders to continue where we left off. Elder Winifred leans forward in her seat, a worried look on her wrinkled features. “We went and spoke with Gamma Orlando while we waited in order to get more information on what happened this morning.” She looks up at Beta Charles, indicating that he should be the one to relay the next part. “Orlando said that Justin wasn’t on the rotation for patrol last night.” He hesitates slightly before continuing on with the next part. “It was Savannah and Josiah that were supposed to be patrolling that part of the border, not Justin.”“We need to get the two of them in here to question them on why Ju
Salara’s POV“Have you spoken to your wolf yet?” Whatever I was expecting to come out of the older wolf’s mouth first, this was not it. I sit there in stunned silence trying to figure out what game the old woman was trying to play. I clearly remember Derrick telling me that made wolves are not given a wolf counterpart like born wolves. ‘Very perceptive.’ I hear from that voice inside of my head. ‘I like her!’ I can almost picture the grinning face of a white wolf, the expression looking ridiculous on her wolfish features. Elder Winifred gives me a sly smirk, a tinkle of laughter leaving her lips. “I can tell by the look on your face that you have.” She nods her head as if this was the most logical conversation to be having and not a completely confusing situation that has me completely lost. She reaches across the desk, patting the back of my hand with her wrinkled fingers. The feel of her hand against mine is oddly comforting. A sense of awareness moves through me at her touch, bu
Derrick’s POVThere has been no sign of Josiah since the day that Justin was attacked and killed at the border. No one seems to know if his and Savannah’s disappearance was before or after the attack. Though speculation is leaning towards them disappearing before the attack since they never showed up for their shift. This is nothing unusual when it comes to Savannah, but Josiah is one of the more reliable young wolf’s that we have. He is always eager to pick up extra shifts and hasn’t missed a single shift since starting a couple of months ago. This behaior alone should have raised some questions when he didn’t show up for his shift. Despite the two of them disappearing though, Justin should not have been left to patrol by himself when we are on high alert. The lack of rogue attacks that we experienced for a long time has made some of my warriors relax their guard a little too much. It is this reason that Salara and I are headed to the training grounds to kick some ass.My head turn
Salara’s POVI was walking back towards the training grounds with a now calm Arielle when I heard what that whore Daphne said about me. Anger swelled up inside of me and without thinking over what words were leaving my lips, I heard myself saying, “I’ll show you a weak Luna.”Silence moves through the training grounds with everyone’s eyes glancing from where I stand right behind Derrick and over to where Daphne stands, abandoned by everyone around her. An amused smirk appears on the foolish woman’s face, her eyes sizing me up as she thinks over my challenge. Anxious energy hums through my veins as I realize just what I have just done. I have zero combat training unlike Daphne who has clearly been training all of her life. It is not too far of a reach to expect that the bitch can take me down without much effort. All I can do now is pray that she will not answer my challenge and back down before her superiors. A hope that is soon dashed when I hear her accept my challenge loud and cl
Salara’s POVThis time I wasn’t fast enough to avoid being hit by the charging bull headed in my direction. When I moved to the left in order to avoid the fist coming my way, Daphne veered to her right, managing to graze along the bottom of my jaw and sending pain through my face. Blood fills up in my mouth, exciting my wolf and earning howls of approval from her despite the pain radiating through our body. I spit out the blood from my mouth at her feet, giving her an amused smirk. “Is that all you’ve got?” Before she has time to gauge my actions, I reach out and grab hold of her hair, holding her in place while I pummel into her face with my right fist. Blood sprays over the two of us, coating my once pristine workout gear with the sticky liquid. After hitting her a few too many times, I throw her across the training grounds yet again, letting out a delighted giggle when her body lands with a resounding thud. I block out the sounds of the crowd cheering all around us. Most of them
Derrick’s POVWatching Salara move across the training grounds as if she has been battling her whole life was a major turn on. Not just for me, but for every unmated wolf in the vicinity. Power is a sought after attribute in the werewolf community, with the most power beings drawing the most attention. While Salara’s good looks had drawn in quite the crowd before today, her display of power has surely increased that crowd exponentially. Hunter and I will be spending a lot of time in the future fighting off those that wish to take our Luna away from us. Werewolves like her are hard to find and many will want her. The aura that is surrounding my fierce Luna is strong enough to rival many Alpha’s that I have come across. No one that comes across her will believe that she is a made wolf. With her strength and the fact that she can apparently shift into her wolf whenever she pleases, everyone will assume she was born into this life. Pride swells in my chest as I gaze over at my angry Lu
Derrick’s POVI lay in the grass beside Salara, basking in the emotions that I can feel coming through our mate bond. The sudden influx of feelings that do not belong to either me or Hunter is strange, but in a good way. I never thought it was possible to feel closer to Salara than I already have, but apparently I was wrong. “Are you upset?” Salara’s soft spoken voice breaks through my happy thoughts, drawing my attention to where she lays to my left.My brows raise in confusion, not sure why she would think that I would be upset. Daphne had that coming for a long time and I am more proud of my mate than I have ever been for standing up for herself. It was important that she showed the blood thirsty wolves that she can and will stand up for herself. “Daphne had that coming and I feel nothing but pride after watching you put her in her place.” A husky chuckle rumbles up my chest. “Well, pride and arousal because watching you out there was a major turn on.”Salara’s head snaps in my d
Derrick’s POV“Where’s mom?” Miguel shifts on the bench seat in front of me, his eyes scanning the constant flow of people entering the field where his soccer game is being held. Snickers can be heard from his teammates at his question, his teammates still not believing that he in fact does have a mother. “She will be here.” I tell him with the best reassuring smile my face can muster. I can tell that my face has failed me by the increase of worry that appears on his sweet little innocent face. Once again trying to reach out through mind link with Salara, I start to worry that maybe she didn’t wake up from her nap in time. Not that I could blame her for over sleeping, she did use a lot of energy just a few hours ago, but it causes guilt to fill me because I was supposed to head back and make sure that she woke up in time. “Daddy Derrick!” The sweet sound of Hayden’s energetic voice pulls me from my concentration as I try to reach her mother one last time. A warm smile fills my feat
