We glared at each other for a length of time in an intense staring contest, the heavy silence hung in the air suffocated me.

It was hard for me to digest that after barely surviving this life-threatening situation, Carver wasn’t worried about me.

Instead, he had the nerve to accuse me of Zayden’s actions. Wasn’t he present at the party to witness everything on his own?

What was the point of repeating those incidents to prove my innocence to appease his ego?

No matter how much I hated to explain myself in front of others, I decided to deal with this like an adult. After all, clear communication was the gist of a healthy relationship, and I wasn’t in the position to lose my boyfriend just because of my childish issues.
