The next time I wake, I can hear Maven and the doctor speaking in hushed tones. The doctor says, “The only way to find out about her lineage is if we take a blood sample.”

Maven breathes out, “Okay, I’ll speak to her when she wakes up.”

“She doesn’t have to decide now, Alpha. It’s a simple blood test. She can go back to the pack house and let me know if she wants to do it. Or she can get it done before leaving.
