Chapter 20

Viviane POV

I haven't been able to go to my room since I arrived at the duke’s estate. I’ve spent all this time in my sister's suite talking and helping her settle down. Apparently, we are going to stay here for a couple of days while the security squad runs a thorough search for any threats in the palace and the premises.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to decline the duke’s invitation for dinner because he sent a charcuterie board and two hot bowls of creamy soup for us. The arrangement of the plates and the choices of meats, cheeses, fruits and crackers made it the perfect meal for me because I shouldn’t eat too heavy before going to sleep. I wonder how he knew what I liked to eat. Though I wouldn’t want to meet him just for the necessary affairs, I’m going to make sure to relay my gratitude. Is the least I could do since he paid attention to my tastes in food.

“Why don't you stay with me tonight? This room is so big I’m afraid I’ll get lost in it and you would have a sister to miss.”
