Chapter 20.

My parents stepped out of the car, accompanied by four warriors, all them whom I recognized. The whole energy shifted and in my head, it looked like they were moving in slow motion.

Their smiles were big and bright as they hugged Aiden and his parents. It was odd how everyone could pretend to be this happy when in fact, nobody wanted this. Nobody was genuinely happy but they all looked like they had won the lottery.

They didn't even know each other, they just fixed their children up and should just back off.

But my brother's words kept playing in my head, how they were coming up with a plan and that gave me hope. It gave me hope that this might actually end and I would be free of everyone. Aiden, my parents and all the people who had been making choices for me since the day I was born. I took a deep breath and repeated Edmund's words in my head.
